Cap clearing trade

Description
Yes I know that the Cirelli contract is low. He takes a 1 year deal to play for one of the best teams in the league. The Nashville trade depends on if they are trying to win.

I honestly don't think the Cirelli contract is low...I'd say he's around $3.75m/2years (see DeBrusk) and Sergachev perhaps $4.9m/3 years (McAvoy comparable). I don't think anyone is getting full value this season.

NSH is not taking on that kind of salary and term

No way Philly can absorb 11 mill of salary. They only have 4.8 mill in space and still need Myers signed

Are you aware that Paquette doesn't make 11 million?

Probably right but they really don't have anyone really important to sign for 2 years. Yes there's Saros but if they resign Rinne his cap will drop 4 million.

They are both over 30 and have long term and high cap hit. It's too much. Maybe Killorn, but not McDonagh.

Kunin still needs a contract for the upcoming season. Saros and Fabbro after this season. Tolvanen and/or Pitlick could get large raises then too, if they have break out seasons (Poile seems committed to giving the young players a chance this year). Killorn would have decent trade value in a normal year, but with the flat cap and TBL's situation, they'd be lucky to give him away for nothing right now. McDonagh would definitely have to come with extra incentive.

No reason at all for McDonagh to waive his NTC for Nashville. Nashville already has 20m tied in 3 Dmen.

I know there seems to be a gentle-GM's agreement against them, but if you're Poile, wouldn't you rather offer sheet Sergachev or Cirelli rather than take on players over 30 with big cap hits?

I'd be surprised if those two didn't already have offer sheets on the table, and are waiting to see if Tampa can't move salary in the next few months before signing them.

Good point, but you're giving up basically nothing for 2 good solid Nhl players that will continue to be good for years to come, and they just won a championship.
