Not a terrible offer, but if Barzal ever got moved, they wouldn’t wanna be taking 8 mil back. I’m sure they’d rather dig up the extra 1.5 mil.

I don't think negotiations would stall if they had $8M available. This offer isn't good enough either.

I doubt the Isles have any interest in Couture. If this trade happened, it should feel like a big win for the sharks as they get Barzal and get rid of Coutures contract.

Nope hard no! Couture is one of our best players and strongest leaders, ozzy who we are very high on and a 1st plus Gregor who will be our 3C this years in his rookie year.... hard no

I think Barzal has more value than all of them combined tbh. Ozzy and Gregor haven’t proven anything in the big leagues while Barzal is one of the best players in the NHL.

Last time we traded a bunch of unknowns a first and a decent player for I high priced “star” we regretted it and those pieces are helping Ottawa rebuild. He is the best piece of this trade, but the parts we’re giving up give us and even more diminished product to put on the ice and make it that much easier for teams to focus on our top unit without worries about the rest of the team. I understand you thought and if we were deep but lacking a star this is a no brained but I think we have to much high end not enough supporting talent and it’s hurting us.

This one would be a little bit different tho bc of Barzal's age compared to EK65 and how he and Meier can form a top-line young threat for a good decade if not more, starting not maybe 2-3 years from now like a prospect would have but right now with Barzal already a top-line center.

Very true! That would be a hell of a 1st line.... but what about lines 2-4? They would be weak and those are the lines that win you cups! And I’m over being a stud in the regular season and a dud in the playoffs
