Wings pass, not trading Z and TJ will cost a first a 3rd and a good prospect. Gonna have to add a lot more for us to take him

Vegas is already about $900,000 or so over the cap so noway they can't afford Yanni Gourde, And with Johnson you'd have to surrender a 1st round pick and either a 2nd round pick or Foote to the deal at the very least Detroit's not moving Zetterberg unless Tampa offers us a by far better offer then your's.

And that is why TB will be forced to keep him. Wings will take advantage of their cap situation and milk them for everything or TB can go into the season without cirelli and cernak. Wings will get this or TB can keep him and his cap hit

Just replace Detroit with Columbus and Zetterberg with Dubinsky

You’re forgetting Yzerman signed him to that contract. I agree Tampa will have to pay to move him, but if TJ is willing to waive for Detroit it’s not going to cost a first + 3rd + good prospect

I could see TJ + Cale Foote

They will sell Palat for positive value before spending assets like Foote to move TyJo

That would work, and maybe pay a little more as Columbus still has to sign a few people.

The only hope Tampa has rn is if someone would buy Johnson for a bag of pucks and if those guys took their qualifying offers. That's absolutely best case scenario.

Columbus is currently at over 9M in cap space and only need to sign PLD. Then they have Dubinsky going on LTIR for 5.85M more cap space. I think they would be more interested in sending that contract to Tampa (since he is still owed the full 5.85) and getting back one of Tampa's 5M players. Bolts arent going to go all in at the deadline again so using LTIR is not a big deal to them

Different team under different circumstances though. He's building through the draft now and has no need for TJ whose another frans Nielsen in the making at this point. I see it foote + first. or first 3rd and lesser prospect like bouliet. Honestly if we don't get that, is tell tampa thanks but no thanks and good luck signing your guys this season

If we keep Johnson this year and ship out Palat + Killorn instead (which kinda sucks) TyJo's numbers should rebound with increased minutes and better linemates. He would probably be pretty enticing for Seattle next year as a local

That may be the only reason they are willing to keep him.

TJ is one seasoned removed from 29 goals. He’s still a good solid player and would be one of your best forwards. If he was willing to waive to Detroit he’d get a top 6 role and it’s very possible his numbers would rebound. Detroit could then retain and flip him. There is no way Tampa pays a first + Foote to dump TJ. That is a ridiculous overpay. Yzerman is familiar with TJ, and probably has a lot of faith in him. TJ probably won’t waive for Detroit so it’s a mute point, but saying it would cost a first + Foote is crazy talk

My thoughts are then they can keep him, Tampa's pick will be like 28-32, hardly worth taking 4 years at 5M for basically an early second round pick. Tampa's pays the piper or can stick in cap hell. I hope he doesn't waive for here, want nothing to do with him

Even though he’d improve your team and you could flip him for a positive asset after a decent season. Hmmmm makes sense

An excellent example is JT. Miller, 47 points in Tampa playing bottom 6, over a ppg in Vancover. TyJo also have 47 points 1 year ago

If we could flip him for a positive asset it would be ok, but that's not even remotely true, we would be stuck with hi for 4 more years. Teams didn't take him for free on waivers for a reason. He has negative value and will be plug for too long. This is a pass all the way from the wings. We are building through the draft, not taking these contracts without massive compensation. Yzerman said he only wants 1 or 2 year deals max for this, not 4. We got a 2nd for 1 year if staal. TJ will cost considerably more

If TJ has a solid 20+ goal season which is absolutely possible playing top 6 on Detroit, then yeah you could flip him for a solid return. Staal may only have one year left but he sucks. At least TJ can bring positive value to a team despite being overpaid

Exactly. I wouldn’t say TJ is gonna be a PPG lol but this notion that he’s a washed player and Buffyb comparing him to frans Nielsen is way off. He can still be a 20+ goal 50+ point guy
