Kot doesn't seem to be ready for 2C and that doesn't really make sense for Montreal since they are looking to compete.

Rangers are better off seeing who's more capable of taking over 2C between Strome and Chytil. If neither of them can take it on then they should look to FA or trades for 2C next off-season. Maybe RNH?

Habs should’ve just drafted Schneider over Guhle. NYR have a surplus of RHD, habs have a surplus of LHDs. Both those picks confused me

They have more prospects for the left hand side than right hand side.. and lundkvist may not sign with the rangers, and rangers probably trade DeAngelo. Makes sense to build up on that side a bit more since they traded Keane.
Left side already has Miller, Jones, Robertson, Hajek, Reunanen as prospects that have the potential to make the NHL still.

But yeah rangers sprint from this deal. In no way do they give this up for denault. WAY too much to ask for.

Why do you say Lundqvist doesn’t sign with the Rangers?

That's gonna be a huge no thanks from the Blues. This is effectively a Habs cap dump.

I’m saying it’s simply protection in case he decides to become a free agent. His rights expire with the rangers in the next year or two

Rangers traded up for Schneider. They are already promoting him. They arent trading him for Danault.

I was a little surprised myself but when I considered the life of the contracts they have in Weber and Petry still they have 3 good RHD prospects fighting for the last spot (Juulsen, Fleury, Brook) and the left side seems to be unproven. Until these kids prove their nhl caliber it’s not a bad thing having plenty of them battle for the spots. Also they do their own ratings they must’ve valued Guhle higher than Schneider

Funny... from other side it's an overpay for a 3rd line center on last year of reasonable deal.
Plus Danault will be seeking much more following this season.
Danault is a third line pivot.
Dont care he played 2C for a below average team and roster.
That is a blatant overpay for Danault.
Take out Scheineder and maybe NY considers.

Habs would jump at that return for a 3rd line center.
No way NY does that deal.

He's a decent 2C. His defensive abilities and 50 point annual production is definitely enticing. The contract negotiations are of worry though

No he a 3rd line center for any playoff or contending team. On a crappy roster like Montreal hes a 2C.
And he is definitely not a 2C in NY.
He could not keep up, skill level, with Panarin, Kaappo or AL.
Again he is a great 3C on a reasonable contract now. But he expects 5 mil per in next contract, mostly bc he played 2C for a bottom tier team.
Not worth it.

No its spot on.
Just not looking at through tainted Habs eyes.
Danault is a very nice player, to have as you have
A 3C playing over his ability due to lack of talent on the roster.
But move him to a talented roster he falls down the depth chart.
Plus he is definitely not worth whatever he is seeking in next contract.
He IS a 3C , should make about 3.5 mil per.
