Winnipeg.
They’ve already stated what they need and this ain’t it. And you could offer better prospects if you were attempting Laine - they wouldn’t want 3 wildcards

They want to win now, this fits none of their needs.

This post is just about the trade and who says no rather than focusing on the lineup.

One for one deal, Laine for Byfield, I know everyone says no to that but Peg wants a center or a RH defenceman

LA

As a Kings fan I don't really like it because Kaliyev(assuming he reaches his potential) will likely be a 30+ goal scorer, roughly 10-15 goal less than Laine every year. Plus that 1st might be a solid number.

Imagine if Byfield doesn't pan out though. Total fleece job.

Well what's the point of trading for Laine if he's not even going to be in your lineup

I just explained that to you...

I see you're new here. Some people make ACGMs for people's opinion on the trade only. Especially with acquiring Laine as an RFA if I sign him, I'm welcoming people to argue with me about how much money I give him which is not something I care to deal with right now.

Winnipeg. Although it’s approaching a kings overpay, it doesn’t help Winnipeg’s situation

Winnipeg. It's not horrible, but it serves no need for the jets.

That would be the gamble of the trade though, and if he pans out, it would be a good trade for both teams I'd say, I mean can you imagine a Laine/Kopitar/Kaliyev line coming down the ice extremely slowly but definitely getting to your net to score? They'd make a nice lineup

I think LA says no. WPG may want to win now, but they're not close to good enough to do it. WPG should do this. Take the 4 ELCs...develop them. Spend the cap savings on a RD. Kailev can hopefully develop into Laine, but WPG will have a deeper team for this.

Both LA and Winnipeg decline, LA wont do it and it's not what Winnipeg is asking for.

To better suit Winnipeg's needs I think the ask could be Vilardi, Walker and a 1st or 2nd.

First off, I think Jets say no. Your logic with the Byfield not panning out comment works out the same way with Kaliyev and Thomas. Jets are banking on the fact that they pan out, which is the opposite of what they’re asking for. I think Byfield for Laine would be very interesting, I think it’s a huge gamble though. If the Jets wanted to do a deal with LA, it likely would be laine for Byfield + Roy. But that’s besides the point.
