My bad, I had no idea his point totals were that low.
Yes, I mean we’ll see more about Rust this year too. But if you traded him now, his value would be a PPG player. B/c he’s coming off a season in which he was. It doesn’t matter it was a shortened season. He still did it. And it’s like being an all-star. Or scoring 20 goals. Once u do it, u are always gonna be a 20 goal scorer, or an all-star player. You can’t take that away from them. It’s no longer potential. A potential all-star. Or potential 20 goal scorer. Once they did it, they proved it, they proved they can do it, they can can repeat it. If he does it again this year or even close, his value will be even higher.
And yes, Dermott probably has more Potential. Riikola came over at 25 as a FA agent signing. Just like Lehtonen this year for the leafs. He’s had a good 2 years though. Like I said, in limited games. But it’s not easy for European defenders to adjust to the smaller Ice rink. And all the board work. In Russian/European hockey, and the bigger ice and all the space, they don’t have to use the boards as much, and don’t. They Don’t use them 1/10 as much as we do in the NHL. And their game is all about speed(Cause the bigger ice rink), and the NHL is way more physical. It a lot harder for defenders to adjust. So he’s done pretty well. Dermott does have more potential though, being younger, a former 2nd round pick, and 2 descent years too. He’s underlying stats arnt great though. But the Leafs D was bad in general last year. We’ll really see this year when he gets his shot at a full-time spot!!
