If Danault takes that, Montreal keeps him easily with no questions asked.

I would say that I think that Danault is somewhat redundant long-term with Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, and Poehling all in the pipeline. If the Habs are out of the playoff picture, it might well be the smart move to parlay him into assets.

Would much rather Danault than Poehling. I think Poehling ends up as a winger anyways. At this point, Poehling hasn't done much as a professional and has been quite disappointing IMO

Why would Carolina want a nearly 28 year old Phillip Danault as their 2C? Carolina has Nick Suzuki as their potential next 2C or Martin Necas besides reportedly Phillip Danault wants closer to $6 million per long term. Don't see either Carolina or Montreal making this deal.

This is just horrible. Dzingel is overpaid and Bean is useless to us. You’re giving us absolutely nothing of value.

Why would you give do much for a 3C??
Danault is not worth anywhere near that.
He makes 3 mill this year, which is perfect for him.
Next year he expects closer to 5 mil per just because he played 2C on a terrible team.
Waaaaay too much for a defensive 3C.

Like Danault is some prize????
You're peddling him bc you have 2 20 year olds who are more apt to be top 6 centerman.
Danault is not top 6, dont care where he played for Habs, on 95% of the league he is a 3C.

That would be another huge mistake by Bergvin
Danault should not be signed by any team to a 5x5 contract. That would be a big mistake, HE IS NOT A 5 MIL PER PLAYER.
DANAULT IS A 3C...
He played 2C in Montreal because of an awlful roster. Hes already being shipped out to let the younger guts play...

He was one of the best 5v5 centers in the league last season, but keep going on like you know what you're talking about.

He played 1C in Montreal, but I wouldn't expect you to know that.

He’ll want more than 5 million. 5 million would be a bargain for Montreal

Danault wants more money and Montreal says no since they get no valuable assets for a very good center

Danault has been a worse Bergeron for Montreal, a Center who is defensive minded and can still score and put up decent points, he is more than a 3c

Just look at Pageau trade and contract extension.

what's the return of Pageau trade ? What's the contract extension ?
Sens get 1st, 2nd and conditionnal 3rd for Pageau extended at 5m for 6 years. Danault can get the same deal and habs can get same return.

I would like to know exactly who you think are better than Danault. You say 95% of the 2C's in the league are better but in the East alone I can only think of 4 2C's who are better (Krejci (debatable), Malkin, Backstrom and Tavares. I would say Hayes is almost equal but everyone else is at least one step below Danault right now) So your 95% is not even close it is more like 25%, which means he is most definitely a 2C.

Only proves my point. All that ice time as a 1C and all you expect is 50 pts. Hes a 30 pts 3C when slotted correctly on a contending team.
Again, hes a great add for THIS SEASON.
Would not any part of a 5 x 5 contract for a then 29 year old 3C.
