Overrated prospect team

Description
Let the record show I do not think any of these players are bad, the reason most of them are here is because they either get an amount of media time that is greater than their over all value, they have been given a level of hype that is over the top, or they have been spoken of highly for years yet never seem to play up the level many say they can. I actually like a lot of these prospects this is just for discussion reasons, please feel free to make suggestions and ask questions!


Also for leafs and Habs fans, this isnt a post to make jabs at your prospects, it’s just that when a team gets the media attention that the Habs and Leafs do it is only natural that prospects often get overrated.

I think he is a tad overrated, I heard people say he should have gone 3rd, Or the fact that seeemingly he is on another level than Holtz, I don’t think it’s a massive overrate but I think people put him on a pedestal above prospects that he is on par with.

Honestly I was having a hard time brainstorming for this one, I could easily be convinced that their are plenty of prospect more overrated than Raymond tbh.

I think in terms of media time and attention it is not proportional to his skill level

I wouldn't consider Caufield overrated but most habs fans are definitely at least overhyping Norlinder and Romanov

To be fair any Leaf prospect will always be overrated. Then they will play the first 10 games of their life in either the AHL or NHL. And then they will be part of every possible trade package for McDavid till they are no longer a Leaf.

Yah I don’t think he is, however I don’t know where people said he should’ve went 3rd, but yah he is way better than Holtz, and that’s why he got picked 4OA. He’s just on that whole different level ahead of the other guys.

Dude read the first comment I’m not trying make a jab at leafs prospects, it’s just that they get an absurd amount of attention, I think the leafs prospects on this list are good tbh

Igor will be 26 in his upcoming rookie season, 5th rounder and continued to dominate after coming to NA last year. Underrated if anything. I'm usually not a homer and am cautious of any prospect hype, considering most never pan out. Simply check the previous drafts on this site, sad turn out really. But I can see Igor running away with the Calder this year which will mean no bridge deal for a 26yr old, in his prime, Russian who will want to get paid long term.

Caufield is definitely overrated. I said before we drafted him that the guy is not that good and i've been saying it since.
Romanov is pretty good but i think he caps of at second pairing. Nothing special imo.



Norlinder is the next Lidstrom tho.
