Boychuk retiring doesn't make you cheaters and the islanders really don't need Hoffman. I don't see how a player's retirement becomes cheating

Not saying it's cheating. Just saying it's fishy how back when the injury happened Lou said it was only Boychuk's eye lid that got cut and he was expected to make a full recovery. Boychuk then returns to play in the playoffs. Then all of a sudden when the team needs cap space to sign their best player because of a flat cap that was unpredicted when the injury happened, Boychuk decides to just retire? Again, not saying it's cheating but they don't call him "Louphole Lou" for nothing.

NO BRASSARD PLEASE. Im killing myself watching islanders fans want brassard back. He was a nice player but its time for the kids to play. If wahlstrom doesnt play this year i cant see him playing in the blue and orange.

Last thing Hoffman should do is take a 1 year deal on a team that will crater his offensive numbers.

Agreed but maybe he wants a ring more than the money

Then there are still a lot better options with the cap room like the Avs. If he really wanted the ring and not the money, he'd take a 1 year deal league minimum deal in a place like Vegas or Tampa, not go to long island.

The avs dont have room for him. And he wants money, he will just give up 500k a year for a ring.

Either way, there are a lot better options for him to chase a cup than the Islanders. They wern't even going to make the playoffs last season before the expanded format and they havn't got better this offseason. They arn't a team you go cup chasing on.

First of all they would have they were 7th in ppplg. Also pelech was out for most of the season. Look at the difference in numbers when pelech was in against when he was out, its staggering. When everyone was healthy (the playoffs) they made the ecfs. Dont know a better team that could sign him. Also they are getting better. Theyre own players will be better. Lee will be much better we have dobson, and wahlstrom is better than brassard. Plus we have sorokin over greiss

They were 6th in the Metro, everyone deals with injuries and a proven goalie like Greiss is better than a goalie who hasn't played in the NHL regardless of his international numbers.

They were 5th in ppg. Injuries happen but not necessarily to your top pair dman its why i didnt mention any of their other numerous injuries. We were discussing if they were a contender so you cant assume they will lose a top pair dman again. All i was saying is that from hoffmans standpoint they are very much a contender. And i would be completely shocked if sorokin isnt as good as greiss was.

Optics don’t look good, especially since it’s Lou and about cap space. I’m sure teams like NYR (Staal), VAN (Eriksson), etc. would love for them to go LTIRetire as they aren’t performing to their contract. It will be brought up just like Hossa’s rash I’m sure.

Been waiting to see Sorokin for years! Signing Varly was such a smart way to make him comfortable enough to finally come over to NA. The battle of the Russian goalies in NY is gonna be real for years to come. It's gonna be exciting to watch.

Varlamov > greiss

Sorokin has vezina potential. Samsonov and shestyerkin had no problem adapting to NA and sorokin is expected to be better than both

The proven vs unproven goalie argument isn't THAT iron clad. Last year, how many people would laugh in your face if you said Francouz will probably put up better numbers than Bobrovsky. Sorokin's KHL numbers are THAT good, when your lowest season is .929 and your highest GA.A 1.61 playing the majority of your club's games, that's an insane pace to hold over 5 years! He's 25 and entering his prime. Greiss took a step back numberswise as he turns 35 come season start. I would hardcore take Sorokin over Griess.

This is the second time I came to a post with the promise of cheating and found no cheating. It’s almost like putting players with long quality of life injuries on LTIR is... legal?
