I don't know if the trade value is good, but this trade actually hurts the Leafs. They have no need for another number one centre. And Andersen is better than Koskinen.
A better trade for the Leafs would be Matthews + for McDavid.

The value is fair but obviously McDavid doesn’t get moved

This is similar to the one I did but I think it’s pretty balanced. Honestly, I think the Oilers get more value out of this.

The idea behind my thought process is to have Matthews and McDavid play together. The chemistry they showed at the World cup 4 years ago has gone unmatched by any others except for maybe the Bruins top line. Just think about it, the best playmaker/player in the league along side a top 3 goal scorer (Ovechkin and Pastranak are the other two), would destroy other teams. They would be almost impossible to stop, and if you put a driving force like Hyman on their wing it's over. No team would be able to defend well against them, except for maybe Werenski and Jones

Are you dumb? Or are you just high right now? A goalie who has been a starter, and a very good one at that, for 6 years in the NHL is a bust? By that definition there would be like 3 goalies in the NHL right now who wouldn't be considered to be busts

Exactly, the Oilers will obviously need to be getting more value out of a trade in the extremely rare case that they did ever move McDavid, otherwise they would say no

There wouldn’t be a McDavid deal without Matthews coming back the other way imo.

Easy no for the Leafs.

Reality is that McDavid is good for 20-30 more points a season than Marner. Hes a center but that doesn't really give the Leafs anything and hes worse in the defensive zone than Marner. 20-30 more points (less because defense) isn't worth a teams 2 top prospects and 2 1sts(and a downgrade in net but lets not even bother).

In four years Matthews will be playing in New York or LA. In five years Tavares just might be retired. In six years Leafs will sign McDavid as a UFA.

it's the same paradox as when people are trading matthews on here. Most teams would rather keep their #2 LW, #3 RD, 1st's and prospects etc. than acquire matthews.

there would be so many holes left on the team that mcdavid wouldn't fill

bonkers. what franchise is gonna let their 1OA captain walk in his prime for nothing after middling playoff success? And if he miraculously did, what's he gonna do, take less money and come play for the leafs?

get real man cmon

Very good for 6 years? Hes the reason they lost to columbus. And yes i might be a little high.

Ya, the thing people don't consider is if you are trading a guy like McDavid or Matthews, you are never going to get your perceived value in return. In that spirit, the most overvalued player on CapFriendly is Connor McDavid.

4th highest save percentage of any goalie in the playoffs, alongside a shutout in a 5 game series, but k

9caa891726cbf89884aae748b66c3462.png

also, generally speaking, he's top 10 in the league at least in terms of save percentages every year he's been here (except this year where he struggled mid season, but so did the team). Even taking into consideration is awful 19-20 season, he's 13th in save percentage over the last 4 years, with WAY more shots than anybody else in the league faced against him

the reason the leafs didn't win is because they couldn't score. Korpi/Elvis were unreal and the leaf's bottom 6 was utterly useless for the entire series, save for one shift when robertson scored a goal

Your basing this on a 5 game sample size.

true, if we just look at goalies after the play-in round, he was still 6th

845df0bad7e63aff54179a668b8e1cb2.png

if we look at some of the goalies who didn't participate in the play-ins and include them, he still had a way better run than most of them did after the first round

350edee544805307f7b04f794769acb0.png

it's hard to find any data to point to the fact that he wasn't excellent

so you admit he had great numbers against CBJ then? He might've sucked later on, but he was not the problem in that 5 game series

idk man, if I told you the leafs were gonna play a 5 game series and the goalie will post a .936sv%, a shutout and a 1.84 GAA, you'd prob be optimistic about the series

andersen was excellent, the team couldn't score a goal in 2 out of the 5 games

Varlys numbers were league leading through the first 2 rounds but took a big hit against PHI, a better team than either the panthers or caps

well, I can't judge andersen for games he didn't play. He played 5 games, and was excellent for the series
