Look it’s a 22 man roster!

In all seriousness, this was made to counter the ridiculous McDavid deserves to be a leaf posts. You can either overpay to get him (which doesn’t start with Tavares) or pick him up as a free agent.

This trade is as fair as I could make it. Draisaitl is on a bargain contract for the amount of points he puts up, and no he’s not bad defensively. He is my favourite player and would be really sad to see him go, but it’s the only ‘fair‘ way I can see to unite the 1oa picks. It is quality for quality.

The evaluation for the trade is based on Draisaitl’s art ross and heart wins. I believe he is better than Matthews, and has an extra year on his contract, meaning the first round pick. Then there is a roughly $3.1M difference in cap hit, which is partially made up of the $2.5M retained salary and partially by the 1st round pick.

With only 1 year of that kind of success for Draisaitl and his defensive handicaps the Oilers would have to add, not the other way around.

and at a 100 point pace season, you would have to add for a guy who gets 90 points paces but scores more goals and is 2 years younger.

Exactly how many more goals does Matthews get than Draisaitl? How many 50 goal campaigns does Matthews have? Or was that an aberration as well?

Draisaitl scores .40 goals per game played, Matthews scores 0.56 goals per game played. So a lot more.

Don't forget that Matthews is still a few years younger too so has much more room to grow too.
