How about we reverse the Andersen trade and the leafs get Comtois and Steel for Andersen. Jk, that's not fair. Seroiusly, I'd give up a first, maybe more.

Jets could use him, not sure what Anaheim’s needs are or if there’s any fits, is he going to end up in Seattle?

Pretty sure he’s ineligible because of ELC still. We’d still protect him regardless

He will have to protected since 2020-21 will be his third pro season (if 2 or less, then exempt).

Figured so, jets more bargain hunters than paying anything for anyone, so probably not realistic, would like to stack up the middle a bit with youth, stopgap of Stastny and have scheifele/perfetti/steel/Gustafsson future. What’s Anaheim’s needs? Jets have some defenseman that need a change of scenery, and some of the same upfront to offer, and possibly a second rounder. Steel would be rather ideal if no need for a protection spot.

Oilers. I would give up a first and a B prospect. But he would end up as a 3C maybe 4C depending on Turris. He definitely has 2C potential but he would never get there in EDM with who they have now. Ducks would be best trading him for a D prospect. Honka from Dallas? Mete, Juulsen, Fluery from Montreal? Juolevi from Vancouver? Timmins from Colorado?

What about Honka? I'm curious how Dallas fans value him right now

I'm not a Dallas fan but Honka doesn't have much value. There were reports they tried trading him. Steel should return a second as well if Honkas the piece coming back

From a Leafs perspective, not much at all because the fit isn't really there, imo. But if he were a fit for my team, I'd offer maybe a 2nd + an okay prospect (low ceiling, but high likelihood to reach it).

Hahaha my bad, I actually meant to quote someone else. But true, I did hear that about Honka but would of liked a Dallas fan point of view on it.

I don't know about that, he only has a combined 87 games played and not a ton of production yet. He's still developing.

Which positions though? I’ve heard a lot of complaints about RD if Manson gets dealt, has that been solved with Drysdale long term and Shattenkirk short term or are you still looking for a long term 2RD prospect in case Andersson doesn’t fill that role? Is LD completely set with Lacombe/Benoit/Guhle/Mahura/Larsson or would you want higher end potential on that side (also just in general, what’s the vibe around these guys, how many do you think actually have top 4 potential at this point)? I feel like Anaheim’s set up the middle, how do you view them on the wings long term? Any junior centres looking like NHL wingers? I feel like you only have 2 RW prospects that could be in the top 6 (Terry and Perreault) is there someone I’m missing there? LW looks a bit better with Comtois/Tracey/Jones. Not sure exactly what you’d want for short term needs, I feel like it’s better for Anaheim to be sellers/bad for another year personally.

Also would this be before or after the expansion draft? Steel does need to be protected.

I just realized you were just responding to something I said. Not that I quoted anything you said.

What about something based around Menell from the Wild? He's got top 4 potential, but is currently blocked and his future on the team is ambiguous at best. AHL all star last year and currently lighting it up in the KHL.

I’m not against it but I would like some immediate help too if possible

He's pretty much already NHL ready, and will be good to go after his current KHL contract is over, which is only for this year. He didn't look out of place during his cups of coffee last year either.

What else would you want in addition to Menell is the question at hand for Steel.

Moving Steel would be a mistake, he's our future 2 C, unless we are getting a current top 4 RHD/Current 2C under 25 years old there is no point in moving him
