I think GMJR would want Jack Johnson as well

So why are the rangers doing this tho? They don’t really gain here.

If strome is still playing well by TDL he’ll likely fetch a first + to a team at 50% that’s a contender. That alone makes the rangers have no interest in this. Then they lose a good prospect additionally.

If Rutherford did this deal, you're right he wouldn't be done. But he'd sure be fired right after.

I’m pretty sure they are done honestly

Can’t see them doing anything else until the season starts and things settle out

I could see them trying to get a UFA 3C on a cheap deal, but other than that, they’re probably done.

Thats what I think they are going to do. My last 10 ACGM`s were signing Granlund or Haula. Decided to take a look at a trade option instead this time.

Pass. Pens don’t want strome as 3C. Haula is probably better and wouldn’t cost an asset. Rutherford already said he isn’t trading MP, but if Matheson does well in Pittsburgh, I could see them shopping MP

Yes, my hope is they sign 1. Granlund and try him at 3C and move to wing if that doesn`t work. 2. Haula 3C 3. Trade MP for 3C.

When did he say he isn`t trading MP? I think Matheson will be much better in Pitt.

He said in an interview after they acquired Matheson that they weren’t trading any D. I agree Matheson will be better in pit tho

What?

it's a terrible deal for Pittsburgh. Pettersson should be a guy they keep. It's a dumb move to trade him and bring in Chara who's arguably a 7th d-man now. Past his prime. Pens don't need offensive help, they need defence and dealing one of their better d-man is a move destined to get you fired

I would hate getting Strome. Over-paid 3C. He’s not a bad player but at 4.5M for a 3C is high now.

I love people who say stuff like this and don’t link articles.

But I could say there definitely were rumors of him in Pittsburgh and link 10 articles. And show the interview he has.

POJ just makes more sense for both teams. NY needs a guy with a low cap hit.
As for Chara? come on, he's going back to BOS or he's retiring. I don't see him goin anywhere else.
I think he's out if it's bubble life, because that ain't for him.

I don`t think the Pens do it unless they are able to get a D and a 3C out of it via trade and/or FA. If POJ gets that then yes do it but I don`t think he has the value MP has and he doesn`t allow for the cap relief MP does either. MP is good but is replaceable. POJ is a decent prospect. Neither is going to move the needle much long term and the Pens are all about the next two years. Make whatever move gives you the best chance for those two years.

Everyone loves to hate Chara but come on...You ask any player/coach/GM on Boston, Pitt or any team around the league and they would all kill to have him on their back end. Of course you aren`t getting 2011 Chara. You are getting a 43 year old Chara...but a 43 year old Chara can still perform in a bottom 4 PK, leadership role and he still adds a toughness/size element that really isn`t matched by anyone else in the league. I think it is likely Boston too but if for whatever reason he goes to another team I pray that Pitt goes hard after him.

A. I think you over value the prospect NY would be sending over. Even NY fans have said they don't think he's top 6.
B. It's not about "loving Chara" It's about Chara being 43 years old and I don't think he wants to play bubble hockey all year. It's hard, especially for someone his size. He probably can't even get a bed that fits him properly. Wants to be with family etc.. At 43, some things are just what they are. I don't see him wanting to do that, and if that's what hockey is, I don't think chara plays.
He's probably hoping for that vaccine and return to normal and then go back to boston.

We're not trading him just because Pittsburgh called on his availability.

Ok, yes, most likely not. Like most trade rumores. But it doesn’t mean the rumors were false?? And your not trading him?? Again, says who?? You??

Yeah I don`t think the NHL is going to do bubble life again. I think the players only agree to go back if things are somewhat normal again.

I don't know, they are talking mini bubbles last I saw. I just don't see Chara doing that. He's 6'9 he needs extensions just to have a hotel bed. That's not really comfort. I couldn't see myself doing that. Hotels aren't made for guys his size. I'm a tall guy and they aren't made for me, I can't imagine him. At some point it's not worth it. When you are 43, making next to nothing, and going through that I think it's the straw.
But there is a vaccine so we'll see. Maybe we get fans again.

What doesn’t make sense?

8D signed with Riikola and Ruhwedel extra.
We know what they wanna do with the top six: 59-87-42, 16-71-17
They still have the 12-53-13 line
Could use McCann or Jankowski as the other C and Lafferty, Erod and Sceviour as W options.
They have Jarry and DeSmith to back him up.

Seems maybe not ideal, but makes sense

Just not a good enough team. They need to make a move for a legitimate 3rd line scoring center.
