I don't know about this one... Colorado definitely should add here but it really is hard to judge the value of prospects against established NHL players

For a rental, that’s pretty good value.

I might even say over pay. Obviously Barkov makes COL better but I don’t think they need him to win a cup.

Let’s not undersell barkov. He would be the aves second best player.

The question is would another team pay more for a year of Barkov.

Cats wouldn’t want Jost or Donskoi if they were to trade Barkov they would want all top end ELC prospect and high picks

Right, so you probably love this deal right?
1st round pick.
19 year old former 4th overall pick.
19 year old former 16th overall pick who just had an unreal year at BC, leading the team in points as a freshmen.

No rental is ever getting more than that. The more i think of it, it’s an overpay.

Definitely not underselling. Any deal for him is a 1st, an A prospect and another piece. I really think a team that makes this trade is doing it to sign him long term, not as a one year deal. This is definitely good value but an over pay I think.

A first, Newhook OR Byram, and Jost should do it. I’ve been looking at Barkov possibly going to MIN after this year and using Stone and O’Reilly as comparables, this set up is arguably the best return of the 3.

The only way the Cats trade him is for an overpay....but that’s not happening as Zito already Barkov is untouchable

The avs cup window is the next 2 maybe 3 years. After 22-23 mackinnons gonna make a boatload of money plus rantanen and landeskog and you end up like toronto. They have players now and trading futures for a player now makes a lot of sense.

And you killed the cap space and roster depth in 1 season with this series of moves

You have them 1 year to win. Congrats for ruining the avs

Not quite Toronto, the defense is already in place and they have elite elc's to extend the window further

Torontos d is pretty solid rielly muzzin brodie. But the top line will be making 30 mil plus barkovs extension. Looks very similar to toronto to me.
