i don't hate this, i've always been a big staal fan, only issue with that i could see is at 37 or whatever his age will be this year will he have enough speed to keep up with our play style?

I really like the potential for what the Avalanche can do and the reason I like this look in particular is because the team becomes harder to play against. I think Staal very much has the potential to perform at an old age even if it’s merely as a 3rd/4th liner plus he gives them a veteran presence who’s won a cup. As for Laughton, sure at this point he may not ever live up to what he was expected to be when he was a 2012 1st rounder and maybe you can argue that the contract here might be a bit of an overpay, but I like his potential as a great 3rd/4th line defensive center who wins face-offs, kills penalties, works really hard, gets into those dirty and dangerous areas, and just overall makes the team harder to play against. Schenn and Noesen are solid extra players as well.
