Dude this list is awful. How are Provorov, Dahlin, and Sergachev honourable mentions?

Who would you put them over?

Dahlin has all the potential in the world, but hasnt been amazing just yet
Sergachev benefits from running a powerplay that has Kucherov, Point and Stamkos
Provorov is decent, and gets really lucky on the powerplay

I dont see how you can justify that. Obviously he plays big minutes but he isnt particularly effective in those minutes

I’m torn because there’s a whole bunch where I’m like, “alright, nice to see someone giving the right guys their credit,” and then an equal number that irk me. For example, cmon. Drew doughty is still a top 50 d man.

Seth jones is probably in the top ten in my opinion. He is without question the jackets best d man.
I know I’m in the minority here, but i would have dougie Hamilton more around 30. Slavin is for sure the best d man on that team.
Ryan Ellis is way too high. More around 40 I think.
Jake Muzzin shouldn’t even be on this list. In the teens? Leafs fan perhaps?

For someone who has Vancouver as their favorite team, you seem to be a Maple leaf fan. No way is Reilly the 8th best defenseman in the league (great in the offensive end but below average in his own end). Muzzin in the top 15? And the most obvious give away, putting Dermott on this list.

I dont know how you can justify putting Jones in the top 10 without using TOI. Hes not top 20 in any relevent stat (when scaled to per 60 mins)
Hamilton is the best offensive defeseman in the league and plays good defense and knows how to run a great powerplay,
Ellis led the league in WAR while missing a ton of games and if effective everywhere on the ice
Muzzin is basically Ellis but slightly worse

He’s unreal. It’s just kind of embarrassing that you have him as the third best d man on the team. He’s clearly the best, without any competition. I think kind of an easy top ten d man.

And Marino should be higher. If you are gonna put Fox that high. Marino isn’t 25 d-men worse than him.

And Drew Doughtry has to be somewhere on this list. He’s better than half these guys still at his age!!

And I personally would have Letang Higher than Carlson and M.Rielly. Letang runs the PP point better than any D-Men in the NHL..still!! Him and Shea Weber are still 1A, 1B at the PP point for Defensemen.

I’m just talking their effect on winning a hockey game. No fantasy stuff, just if you need to win a game, who helps you do it.

Rielly had the best offensive season we have seen from a defenseman (according to HBF SPAR) in the shot tracking era in 18-19. This year was full of injuries for him. I would expect a huge bounceback from him

Muzzin has pretty much no weaknesses when he plays on the ice. And Dermott is an excellent defenseman at shutting down opposing transitions. And has been good offensively so far

I thought that I would get ripped as a Canucks fan for putting Hughes over Makar, but I guess everyone notices the Leafs first... Just because I praise a team doesnt mean they are automatically my favourite

Again, you need to tell me why. You can say anybody "is unreal" but until you actually prove it, it means nothing

WAR is literally the stat that tells you exactly how much a player contributed to their team's success and how many wins they provided to their team

WAR tells what what some numbers are. If you think it tells you how much a player contributes to their teams success, hockey is not the sport for you. I think baseball is. It’s very stat driven. A single is a single, a strikeout is a strikeout.

Hockey isn’t like that.

I'm surprised Carlson is that high. But then I look at the rest of the list and there's a lot of offensive-minded Dmens. How many season(s) do you take in consideration?

Nobody can actually justify why Jones is good other than saying he just is. He plays big minutes but isnt effetive. Please show me some stats or something that proves that hes actually good

Muzzin is mad underrated and has pretty much no holes in his game

Marino can be higher, but hes only had 1 season. I would 100% put him higher if he repeats the season he just had

Doughty was replacement level 5v5 this year. Hes just flat out bad now. Maybe he isnt trying anymore because his team sucks, but unless he shows something now, I cant put him on here

Letang over Carlson is fair.. Maybe Rielly too. And yes he is a great PP quarterback, but I wouldnt have him as the best. i think that honour goes to Torey Krug

I consider the last 3 years, but on a weighted scale. So this year means more than last year, which means more than the year before. But if a player suffered from an injury (Rielly), I give them the benefit of the doubt
