Detroit wouldn’t be trading Veleno. In 3 years time I’d expect him to be a full time Red Wing and starting to show some offensive upside getting regular minutes

This isn't NHL21 where Veleno becomes a 86 in the 3rd year. Hunt has a ton of upside too and its kind of similar in potential. Although, Veleno has a boom or bust thing going on, I think Hunt will be similar to Veleno.

Hunt has shown he’s capable at the AHL level, but he’s also 25. In 3 years time he just doesn’t align with what the rebuilding Red Wings are doing. Veleno was off to a slow start in his first pro season, but played well enough that zero Red Wings fans are writing the 20 year old off yet. Even if he needs 2 more AHL seasons with that 2nd one including 9 NHL games we’re more than content with that. He’s also our most promising C prospect.

I don’t think Veleno is going to be an 86 OV chel player in 3 years in the NHL, most Wings fans will agree, but he’ll be a good kid for us.

Veleno isn’t the definition of boom or bust. He’s actually polar opposite as he plays a complete 2 way game and has great skating and playmaking. I see him as a middle six center and if he can’t develop him offensive side then were talking about a bottom six center.

Hunt on the other hand is a 25 year old winger that hasn’t been able to stick in the NHL.

I see this too but if he can't develop offense, he will be a 3rd, 4th line center. Even on a team like the Red Wings.

A boom or bust player would be something like he’s either top 6 or not in the NHL. Veleno is safe bet to make the NHL as a 3 or 4C and could be potentially a 2C.
