Not much money coming off the books for 2021-22 season with Romanov and Suzuki to sign.

If Suzuki has a big year you no longer have the space to sign him. Unfortunately I think both are gone. The habs need Poehling and Evans to take large strides this year and fill out the 3rd and 4th center positions

Actually look at the long term outlook. We have 9 Mil If we extend Suzuki at 5 Mil on a 5 year deal we can resign Romanov at 3 Mil and Trade one of Taffoli, Anderson, Drouin or Chiarot to make space if required. You could even move Lehkonen, any way none of them would be difficult to move.

It probably is possible to keep both Tatar and Danault but I’m not sure it’s the best move. IMO we should keep Danault as it would give us very good centre depth and he brings a defensive game that’s very valuable in the playoffs.

Tatar has been a great fit for Montreal but unless he’s willing to take a discount his cap space is too valuable and it’s hard to know if his point production will stay where it’s at. Habs have some winger depth with Caufield coming next season, potentially Ylonen or maybe Poehling gets put on the wing.

I predict we keep Tatar for this season, trade him at the deadline if we’re out of the playoffs or keep him as a rental and move on.
