Swap Niemla with Lilijgren and it’s close.

Maple Leafs take this and run. I think Dumba would be great for them.

Meh, for that cheap, I'd take him and figure out the rest later. That's a steal.

You would probably have to take Holl as well and retain a bit on Dumba for it to work for the Leafs cap. In return for eating some of Dumba's salary the leafs could put in Liljgren over Niemela

Trade Rielly or Hyman then? Because there wouldn't be enough capspace to re-sign both of them in the next few years (likely not enough space for either).

I'd prefer letting Dermott or Sandin take those min eventually, and not completely ruin Leafs cap situation.

Realistically you’d have to move Muzzin and then somehow fill the void left at 3C too. The trade would have to be like Muzzin, Kerfoot and picks for Dumba and Bonino half retained or something. Juice ain’t worth the squeeze IMO

The leafs don't have the cap for this but can't imagine they'd care, they are robbing Minnesota here. And for that reason, Minnesota wouldn't do this

I see your point. But trading, say Andersen and Holl, for a 2 million dollar goalie and a 1.5 3c, then you are set.

I guess I just don't like the fit enough. Another $6m player paints the Leafs in a corner, it would mean going cheap in the bottom 6 and G for several years and blocks both Dermott and Sandin from even getting a look in the Top 4.

Personally, I've never been too high on Dumba to the Leafs, even if the cost is relatively cheap. I'd be much happier with Dermott/Sandin going forward at a fraction of the cost.

You have a good point. All I'm saying is he's a good right hand d, so if you can get him this cheap, why not? But I understand he's not the greatest fit (even though he's from saskatchewan).

If the Leafs had another Top 4 dman that he made expendable, I'd probably be OK with it. But I don't really want him replacing any of Rielly, Muzzin or Brodie as I see all 3 as better fits with Leafs as currently constructed.
