Description
Cost is high for reinhart and dumping Louis but look at that top 6 it’s gorgeous, defence is looking pretty good and who knows with this goaltending tandem if Demko has a good year can expect to see this
Buffalo trade only happens if they decide to rebuild which they really should do, your main man wants out skinner might bounce back but that contract is still aweful and a few more years of okoposo makes it pretty tough to contend

Getting rid of Loui will take a 1st+something mediocre. Virtanen and a (Presumably) late 1st don't get Sam Reinhart.

that forward group is looking very dangerous. Seems like Vancouver was lucky to have someone like Hughes being nice to them and signing for less money. If Demko played very well this team could probably make the conference finals but if they face Colorado i doubt they'll make it to the finals. But overall I like it.

There is almost no value in that trade for Detroit so no.

Figured a 1st get rid of the last year of Louis and a 1st+ Jake for reinhart

I don't know...I don't think I'd do it if I was Buffalo. Reinhart fills a valuable top 6 role on a team that looks as though they want to compete.

If/when they fall out of the race, I'd assume they'd move Hall for picks before moving Reinhart.

If the sabres are in it, and hall has chemistry with eichel, the sabres may be looking to extend hall. If thats the case, i can see reinhart shaking loose to make room for hall. Either way, eriksson will cost more to move than is assumed here, moving reinhart to make space, only to then add eriksson- that doesnt work.

thats a HUGE overpayment for Reinhart two firsts. thats horrible asset management Jim would be fired.Jim has stated several times he will not use a first to rid team of louies contract. We can bury him in the minors and save our picks. in my opinion.

Buffalo really should rebuild? Main man wants out? That is all just spectaculation, Jack Eichel has never said that. This off-season we fixed our biggest hole of the last 2 years, and added an elite winger to boot. If we don’t make the playoffs this year, it will be the longest drought in history. This is not a year that Buffalo really should rebuild.

He brings a lot actually. Good vet, scrappy super intense player. Any team in the league would want him. Just maybe not at 3 mil if your pressed against the cap.

I am just spitballin here as I do not get to watch Jake very much.
He actually had a higher pt/60 than Sam last year, so I could easily see him among the Sabres top six.
Sam will most likely want over $6,000,000 long term next year.
Loui has a cap hit of $6,000,000 and Jake has a cap hit of $2,550,000 and both expire at the end of the year.
Let's presume Sam will accept only $6,000,000
If we send Loui to the minors his cap hit is only $4,875,000 and Jake is $2,550,000 for a sum total of $7,425,000 only $1,425,000 greater than Sam alone and the Sabres get two first round picks.
Alternatively if the Sabres were to buy our Loui, then his cap hit next year would only be $4,000,000 and $1,000,000 the following year.
So they could take the entire cap hit in one year or spread it out over two.
I think I would make this trade, I think it is a bad deal for Vancouver.

    I welcome your feed back.
