Doug Armstrong really screwed up big time here I agree. I can't see why he was interested in Faulk in the 1st place. Faulk should run a PP and there wasn't/still isn't (because of Krug) room for that in STL.

They won their cup so they can be bad for the next 10 years and who cares.

Not to mention puck moving/PP specialist D-men are a dime a dozen these days

Winning the Cup (with Faulk) certainly can't be taken away from the Blues or their fans. But geez 13m for Faulk and Krug long term at this stage in their career (age 28, 29) seems really iffy in a flat cap league. Even 3.25m X 4 for 30 year old Scanella may not be great either.

Scandella seems to be working out and they got pretty good value for Jake Allen.

Scandella is bad tears of joy they also paid 2nd + 4th for him....

Allen for a 3rd is good value? maybe. I'd give MTL the win getting a fringe starter for a 3rd.

Scandella is bad...

No, he's not. But yeah, the price was high. COVID screwed us over pretty good with regards to a repeat. But check back again after next season.

Fair enough. Not surprising to see a former Sabre excel in music city then smh...

He immediately had good chemistry with Parayko, and allowed the big guy to open up his puck rush/O-zone game more. It's a good partnership, playoffs not withstanding (Colt was definitely among those recovering from the virus, not sure about Scandyman).

Gotcha. Are these pairing accurate IYO?

Krug-Parayko
Dunn-Faulk
Scandella-Bortuzzo
Gunnarsson

Probably start out more like...

Scandella-Parayko
Krug-Faulk
Dunn-Bortuzzo

But Berube won't hesitate to move things around if something's off. I think we might also see Dunn with Parayko at some point (or at least in key moments of tight games). Krug and Faulk played together well at the 2015 Worlds, so one would hope they already have a good working chemistry.

Massive over-reaction to the way the negotiations had been going (or not) with Pietrangelo at that point by Army. It was an unnecessary move that needlessly jabbed Petro in the eye. We were fine on the right side. The only way the trade and sign made any sense was to replace Petro. That's the only way the guy could've taken it.

Armstrong is often a stone-cold GM. I think he prides himself on it. This is one situation with one special player he could've shown some humanity in the negotiations. Maybe it would've made a difference, maybe Petro isn't as rigid in his demands after that, maybe not. But acquiring Faulk definitely didn't help: in terms of cap dollars or in terms of respect to Petro. Faulk is now unfortunately villified by many Blues fans as the reason Petro isn't here, through no fault of his own.

We'll see how Faulk looks this year. But it could go down as the worst trade and worst contract Armstrong has ever done for the Blues. Not even just for Faulk not working out but for also what it cost us.

I refuse to believe that Armstrong was so certain that Pietrangelo wouldn't re-sign with the Blues that he felt he HAD to make a replacement move, RIGHT THEN.
