Boston’s too high. They have 1 year of contention left before they need to re-tool/re-build. I also think you’re jumping the gun with Buffalo, Ottawa, and especially Detroit.

For Detroit and Ottawa im thinking down the line. I feel like buffalo will fill this role for most of the decade. I feel like boston still has a good 4 years left with mcavoy and pastrnak.

I think Chicago could be sneaky. I really like Kirby Dach. I also think that Vancouver might end up in the two or more cups category. They are being really smart and waiting to build the team around the big contracts to Hughes and Pettersson rather than doing what the Leafs did and building the team before the contracts.

Yeah I was thinking about putting Chicago higher. I think Vancouvers defense situation will get super bad soon besides hughes.

Very fair, and i think they’ll take a step back for sure. That said, they’re two best players are 24 and 22. They’ll likely have to do an on the fly re-tool that will take a couple years, rather than a full rebuild.

Boston has McAvoy & Pastrnak, but who else? Rask, Bergeron, & Krejci are all nearing the end, and Marchand isn’t too far away. And it’s not like they have any great prospects coming up that can replace them.

For sure. I’d be most worried about goaltending & a #1C, since (at least from the outside) it doesn’t seem like they have anyone in the organization to replace Bergeron/Rask. But if they do it well, they could have a retool finished in a few years.

I kinda think rask will be there until 2025 or so. The center thing is what will make or break them. If they manage to pick up someone and studnicka pans out, they’ll be fine. If neither of those things happen they’ll probably be stuck in a spot where their back end and system makes them too good to bottom out, but their center depth limits them from competing.

If you bet against them each of the last few years, you would have done quite well.

They have good top end talent i guess. They’re not a good hockey team, and they haven’t been for a long time.
