Is this a contender read explanation

Description
Yes this team is old, but hear me out.
the first line is great. It has Donato who averages .9 xgoals/60min, with Timo who averages the same, with a great two way center. The 2nd line has Hertl who averages over 1 xgoal/60 min, with the team's best transition forward in Labanc, and Kane who does everything slightly above average at even strength
The bottom 6 would look so re-vitalized. The 3rd line could actually provide some depth scoring, and that 4th line is probably the two best defensive forwards on the team and Noesen.
The D pairings are questionable but there is clear upside, and adding Rutta or an NHL RD goes a super long way.
Goaltending is questionable. The team literally needs league average goaltending. The team is not as loaded offensively as it was in 2018-19, so it needs better than .895 sv% but a .905 would go a long way.
The special teams would be great. The best PK in the league, and a PP with Kane who played insane, and all the actual starters.

If the division is Colorado Vegas Dallas Minnesota Arizona LA and Anaheim, this team slots 4th. Let me know your thoughts. Please actually read this.

WORST CASE SCENARIO. All the new additions are traded at the deadline, minus Donato, and you gather picks and give Leonard Sasha and Merkley NHL time. I see no problems with this idea.

First things first, no, absolutely not. This team shouldn’t come close to the playoffs. Then again the NHL makes no sense.

Quick note on Donato: he is SO bad. I don’t think he’ll be in the NHL beyond this season. Maybe he takes a step or two forward with the time off, i don’t know. When he was in Boston he was the worst player away from the puck I’ve ever seen on NHL ice. Minnesota was no better. Just like in Boston, he was pretty good when it wasn’t 5 on 5. Only problem is, the game is usually played 5 on 5.

I don’t think he’s an NHL caliber player.

I don't think this roster should even get close to the playoffs let alone contending, though it could because technically anything could happen.

This team just got the 3rd overall pick (which was traded) and signing 2 3rd liners and a 7th defenseman don't make the roster much better. With basically the same roster as last year and just a twist in the lines I don't know why so many people on here keep titling the Sharks as contenders.

They might be able to squeak into the playoffs if everything goes right, but there window is closed for being a true contender.

his 14 even strength goals don't seem to agree, what makes you say that?

Watching him play hockey.

Again, my statement was about when he was away from the puck. If he’s on the first line, this team will be bottom five in the league.

Honestly, anything can happen. If they're slotted in a division in which you described, I definitely believe they are able to squeak in at the #4 spot. That being said, I don't think they are going to be true contenders and it looks like their window officially closed last season (unless Martin Jones returns to above-average form, the top-6 can stay healthy, and Karlsson harnesses 2017 playoff mode).
