Rangers pass on that. They traded one of their better prospects in keane for gauthier because they liked his upside. No way they give up him and a 1st rounder in a deep draft (supposed to be a very deep draft) for a 2/3c that’s a ufa at the end of the year. They aren’t huge buyers yet, give it a few years

Others Rangers fans would disagree with you
Keane was a B prospect, nothing like K’Andre Miller Nils Lundqvist

I really wouldn't pay a first for Tatar either.

1st. I don't see a situation where MTL adds all those assets in the off season and fails to compete, if they do then its time to sell it all and rebuild from scratch. They will be in the most balanced division in the league and not having to play superstar teams like TB/COL/WSH/PHI/BOS/etc. If they however fail then Bergy needs to step down.

2nd. NYR are rebuilding and shouldn't be in any position to buy rentals for 1st/high prospects/ELC roster players....Even if they are at the top of the league by the hands of Shesty.. you are more likely to get Buch in return

Hey it’s Capfriendly and we have no hockey, I need to find alternative or something so I can talk about hockey. Yes, MTL should be in the playoffs run next year, but for the trade, getting a good 2C and if he comes with an extension, you don’t care about that 1st ( late 16+ ) + Gauthier to get a good 2C. I would trade a 1st and a good prospect for a long term top 3 LHD, but we have too many Dman right now. Like it’s worth it.

Your taking trade deadline so of course prices will be higher. If a team really wants Tatar, a first is the price to pay minimum. Someone will pay the price if he puts up similar numbers to last season.

We want a Goal Scorer for the Top 2 Lines. Tatar is a LW if I remember and we can’t use LW we need RW and we have a plethora of Centers as well. Bozak already makes the lineup redundant.

Not really...
That is an awlful deal for NY...
Why would there be a 1st, nobody giving a 1st for a 28 yeard old 3C who wants 5+mil per after this season.
Danault us a deadline rental for a contender.
He is not a building block.

By seasons end and moving forward...
Danault is correctly slotted as a 3C on a contending team.
He only played top 6 because Montreal was waiting for draft picks to take his spot.
Go ahead pay Danault the 5+ mil per season he wants too.
