Love Filppula but we don't really need him.

Yes, for Johnson, but we'd have to see what happens with Ryan this season. Also, if we're able to fill the vacancies left by Johnson and Killorn with ABB, Volkov, Joseph, etc..., then we will have no need for Ryan even as a 4th liner.

I bet they would, but do you see them having a million in cap at the deadline?

I don't know why Detroit would do most of these trades and the ones they would do the other team wouldn't do. Ryan and Filppula won't bring back 3rds besides Filppula retires at the end of the season. Maybe Detroit trades Gagner but it would 1 for 1. At that price I'd rather keep Gagner. Boston isn't going to give up a 3rd to move Moore's contract and since Nemeth and Moore are pretty close talent wise there is no reason for Boston to make the trade in the first place. I'd rather keep Bernier he is younger had a far better season on a team that gave up about 50 more goals. Gambrell is a bottom 6 froward at best and if makes a NHL team it will be his defensive play that will get there and Detroit has enough of that type of player. Plus is SJS going to be buying at the TDL? If Vancouver is willing to give up a 1st to take Eriksson it would've already happened and they aren't going to want to give up a 1st when he only has 1 season left on his contract.

I left out Johnson because I really don't see him waiving for Detroit. The KHL reporter who was the most recent suggest this trade more than likely got the idea here on CapFfriendly. I know I'm in the minority thinking Johnson won't waive for Detroit. There were a lot of people on this site who were sure Detroit was going to draft Perfetti and that connection was better than the Yzerman Johnson connection.

It's not good but I wouldn't say awful it's not like he is undervaluing players and overvaluing his teams players. I think it's more not knowing the players as well as we do.
