trading for barkov

Created by: Lightman13
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2020
Published: Dec. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
2021 being a defense heavy draft and the wild pretty set on Defense I figure they can afford to trade a 1st in it as well as Dumba. they'll probably lose Soucy to Seattle with this roster, but would be able to resign hunt and or Pateryn.

also this from a long term and cap perspective has money opening up as Kaprizov and Barkov will be needing raises as well as the ELC players.

The price for Barkov in a trade isn't as high as many people think it is. That said, there's no reason for Florida to trade him for Dumba, regardless of how you value Dumba. They have no need for him.

Right now it will take an overpay. This isn’t an overpay. After the panthers have had the opportunity to put an extension in front of Barkov, if he doesn’t sign it, then all of a sudden they’re listening a lot more eagerly.

I don't see how Florida moves Barkov without getting Kaprizov+ back.

Certainly Florida does't need Dumba. But still not sure what Minni gets out of the trade long term. Barkov is a UFA in two years, and Minni isn't advancing in the playoffs (in they even make it) even with Barkov.

Yeah there's absolutely no shot that happens unless Barkov has an extension with Minnesota.

I don't know why Minny would trade for him without one? I also don't see Florida letting him go without a major attempt at re-signing him. Also didn't notice this was 2021-2022.

Any deal for Barkov would probably include Boldy, imo.

This team is 2021-22. Johansson is a UFA at the end of this season.

My thinking is a potential trade for Barkov would happen after all the TDL action happens. He wants to win and hasn't been happy with the direction in FL. would he take a trade to MN? Dunno, but it would make sense for all sides. quality pieces for a rebuild in FL, Barkov in a legit Hockey Market with another young russian stud on a team that has plenty of potential to compete in another year or 2 instead of a long rebuild.

could substitue khovanov for Boldy, it would make sense to me that way too. I was thinking more towards someone with a top 6 C ceiling instead of wing
