They have the space, and this makes the fwd crop look pretty damn good. What is holding them back? Simply internal finances I guess?

Could be internal finances.

Maybe they have reached out to Hoff and Haula, maybe they don't like the contracts that were put in front of them. Who knows.

I'm surprised Hoffman hasn't been signed yet, hard to be picky right now when not too many teams can fork out a boat load of money right now.

Internal finances is all that makes sense to me. Haula isn't absolutely necessary above, so they really have room to go higher on a 1 year with Hoffman than most teams (I imagine most are pushing 4-5 mil at him, NSH could easily do 6). Maybe Hoffman has many offers and is really just waiting for personal reasons depending on the start of the season etc., who knows.

Ha, they could be Tampa's savior. I am no Nashville fan, just looking at this objectively. But with Hoffman, Haula and some other decent point producers out there for likely bargain one year deals, the adds onto Killorn would have to be damn impressive I'd reckon for NSH to go that route.

Sounds like they're still talking to Hoffman. Poile has repeatedly mentioned giving prospects like Tolvanen, Tomasino, Pitlick a shot this year. Makes sense to hold onto the cap space for now, and see what deals could be had, for helping teams like TB that are in cap hell. Signing Haula would really be an unnecessary luxury.

I think it was reported Nashville was looking at an internal cap around 70 mil or so. They're right around there with Kunin on a bridge.

Various reasons could be in play:

1) Team is getting older and there's several forwards that appear to be close to NHL ready: Pitlick, Tolvanen, Tomasino, Trenin.
2) Takes two to tango: Could have offers on players but players have to be willing to sign
3) Looking at the trade market: With several teams in need of capspace, Nashville could make a move there
4) Internal finances deem it necessary to have a low cap this year
5) Waiting to see what the season will even look like: Will there be fans in the seats? How many games? etc. If it's a half season with no fans in the seats, might be a good season to tank and get a high pick.

Where was this reported? I haven't seen anything about an internal cap.

Because:
A) The stands were empty and they couldn't sell $25 margaritas to the Carrie Underwoods / Toby Keiths / Keith Urbans etc. so now they are on an internal budget of $65M
B) They don't like the remaining UFA's out there?
C) They are waiting to jump in at the last minute to save Tampa and spend up to the $81.5M cap to take all of their inflated contracts for a bunch of 1st & 2nd round picks
D) Poile became gun shy after that Johansen for Jones trade and letting Trotz go to Washington...and now he just can't make a decision
D) All of the above
E) None of the above
