That Edmonton trade makes their cap situation worse then the Leafs and that's saying something

Don’t think Ducks want Seabrook. Especially at full salary

Leafs don't even have the worst cap situation anymore. It's not great, but manageable right now.

Also, this trade doesn't happen.

I like Andrew Shaw, but he isn't any good if he doesn't play

He went from 3 seasons of playing 95% of his teams games

To three seasons where he only played 75% of his teams games

To last season where he played 35% of his teams games

I can't see trading for a player with a middle6 salary, and bottom6 production, when he isn't injured

The Edmonton trade is laughable. No way Oilers give up Nuge or Nurse and not for 2 guys who are overpaid and over the hill. Nuge is arguably the best depth center wingman in the entire NHL who consistently puts up near or over 50 points the last 2 seasons over 60. Nurse being the offensive juggernaut he is on Defence. No way this deal happens maybe if Chicago gave Edmonton their first round pick and retained half the salary of Kane and Toews instead of Edmonton giving up a first round pick and 2 key players but a potential key player lol.

Wow what a joke. "Laughable?" Can you even imagine Kane with McDavid? Kane is arguably a top 3 winger in the NHL, best RW in the league. He puts up well over a point per game consistently on a crappy team. Jonathan Toews is a Selke Center who will score you 50-60 points a season. A better version of RNH. Sure RNH is younger, but Toews is better. Imagine a center depth of McDavid, Draisatl, and Toews. Holy crap. Again, Kane is a top player in the NHL, I don't know where you get your information. Kane is absolutely not overpaid if you look at production. You also need to look at playoff stats for both of them. Bonafied studs. Super clutch. Also, with Toews, you aren't just paying for points.

Nothing you said is incorrect. Fair. Except We don't need them. We already have the best 1-2 punch in the NHL with McD and Drai and Nuge is an insanely good depth center wingman for his 6, now most like 6.75-7M contract who is only putting up more points each season. There is zero incentive for the Oilers to chase Kane and Toews when in reality if we wanted to find a Kane type winger for McDavid we would just acquire somebody with a way smaller contract who still puts up points. If we were going to give up the amount you put into your trade why wouldnt be go after Pastrnak then and sign him to 9.5? Or literally anybody else better than Puljujarvi, Kassian, or Neal who McDavid has had to play with. I'd never break up the Nuge-Drai-Yamamoto line as its the number 1 line in the NHL when you look at the numbers. We're not selling the farm for Kane and Toews when we don't need them.

Check out part 2, I made it using the Edmonton side of that trade
