Imo he needs to play for the ducks this year, I’d put him at 4C, swap ND out of the lineup and play grant and backes on the wings (unless you wanna play deslauriers over grant, then just rotate them).

Hope for him he isn't stuck with Deslauriers and Backes on his wings if he plays 4C.

I'm still wildly confused as to why people are high on Jones TBH. I just don't see him as being anything more than Nick Ritchie-lite, but I could be 100% wrong (And that'd be nice!). Jones, Grant and Deslaurier can split time.

I'd honestly have no problem with he and Steel sharing a line for a bit in a sort of "Hybrid" 3C role, unless the team is going to try to roll 4 lines.

Agreed, though I remember when Tyler Seguin played 4 C for the Bruins in his rookie year and everyone was like "WTFFFFF?!?!", but it turned out it worked. Definitely want to see him put in a position to succeed though!

Very true but I’d really expect Zegras to need to get C time as opposed to Wing time. Obviously 3C would be ideal but I think Steel earned the right to be full time there. A hybrid could work where they rotate but I think zegras could carry those two to a degree

It's tough to actually find him a full time C role, where he'll get reasonable minutes, without moving one of Rico or Getzlaf (Getzlaf isn't getting moved).

Nah put him in the AHL for a season if they have one. No need to rush a very good prospect like Zegras, all he has done is play in his university. He needs to play against other prospects, and bigger game than a bunch of college kids.

I think you could run:

Zegras/ Steel - Steel/ Zegras - Terry
Jones - Grant - Backes - Deslauriers (HS)

And by TDL the ducks could trade Henrique if he’s playing well (I don’t think keeping him is bad) but as you and @bhavikp27 said, Zegras would have some crappy wingers at 4C and being stuck behind Henrique Getzlaf Steel is kinda tough if he plays well. Obviously if Zegras doesn’t perform there’s no issue but assuming he does, the ducks could easily trade Henrique with some retention (like 5-10% nothing large). I like Henrique still so I think he’s moveable but he needs a slight reduction on that AAV to be easier to move

Booooooo. There probably won't be an AHL season anyway, but still...NCAA>CHL, so he's probably closer to ready than most coming out of junior. If he has to play 10 games in the AHL, fine, but I honestly feel like playing in the NHL is the smarter way for the team to go.

100% agree, theres zero reason to rush prospects. Look at he 03 draft that benefited from the lockout and players having extra development time

You wanna rush him be my guest. He hasn’t proven that he is ready.
