Description

Bored so I decided to make a value ranking of Blues players based on all factors - contract, age, value, position, character, etc. An Athletic writer did this for the top 50 in the whole NHL I think, so I thought this might be interesting. And if anything, maybe it provides a nice perspective on armchair trade targets and value.

Tiers are read from LW->C->RW->LD->RD.

This is based on my interpretation of value to the team, not perceived value to other teams or the feasibility of an actual trade. So, it's the hypothetical of "if I'm trading for max value, what order am I giving guys up".

Minor leaguers/low value guys may not be included. Goalies not included.

Let me know where you disagree and I'll try to explain how I got there.

the way perron played last year and considering hes only making 4m i think you could bump him up a tier

Yeah I could see that. He isn't too old, contract isn't too long or too short, and it's good value for what he's providing. Just not sure how valuable scoring wingers really are unless they are closer to elite.

Yeah he did a good job filling that scoring void without Vladdy. Hopefully he keeps shooting like that (and some other guys can find that scoring touch... aside from Tarasenko we haven't had a 30-goal scorer since Steen did it back in 2013).

Pretty good stuff, though I'd bump Bortz up a tier. He's high value for his cap hit as much as Sanford is.

I would agree on everything except schenn, I think he should be up 1 tier
