Hoffman

Created by: Blueman96
Team: 2020-21 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 3, 2020
Published: Dec. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Blues would have some issues once/if Tarasenko is ready to come back.

Also depends on if Hoffman is open to a 1 year deal. If he isn't, well...

Yes, it appears Hoffman was willing to take a one year deal a month ago (don't know if he changed his mind or may change later). If he does take 1Y, he'll likely get $5M+, that's why he's waiting.

Dunn will make more than that. I see him getting the same contract as Devon Toews

Well yeah, but he’s got like no leverage unless he signs an offersheet

He/his agent know how good he is. He also knows that the Blues cant really afford to lose 2 very good defensemen in 1 offseason
They are also somewhat near the cap if you count Taranseko and Steen's deals and subtact Hoffman

He might not be as valuable as most GMs think he is, but I think he can get a hefty paycheck

Big no thanks. Hoffman is not a team fit at all.

I wouldn't want to take on a 5 million dollar contract for him. His production is solely dependent on his Powerplay time, and play.

He's not good at all on 5v5, and what we need is a 5v5 goal scorer to replace Tarasenko as a stop gap until he gets back.

He has a little bit of leverage, but not a lot because he's been sheltered this next season will be the first year he will really be unleashed he's probably gonna be a 2B Pairing option You don't put Faulk and Dunn together. So a bridge deal would go a long way for him right now.

I know, that's one of the cons.

He may feel he's worth it but unless he signs an offer sheet his options are to hold out and not play or take a short term deal and circle back around later.

Given the financial climate I would hope it's more important to be playing and hopefully increasing your value for the future instead of just sitting out.
