TBL Trade: Palat + Cernak? And a 1st? Just seems like a lot to add to Johnson. I can see the 1st + a prospect + maybe even a little bit of retention, but Palat would probably be dealt separately. And GMBB has said he won't trade the big 3 RFAs. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see if that changes

NSH Trade: I just don't see Poile giving up prospects + 1st rounders for 30+ year old players that need big $$, long-term contracts. It hasn't been working out on that front lately...

MIN Trade: I'm not convinced that Armia would return a 2nd -- especially from a team like MIN that already has too many wingers. They need centers.

It's weird that it costs Tampa Palat, Cernak and a 1st to get rid of Tyler Johnson, but it only costs Montreal a 1st and some meh throw-ins to do the same thing...

Not my idea... it's Eric Duhatschek (The Athletic)

He had Killorn not Palat. Tampa might do Johnson/Killorn/1st/forward prospect (not ABB or Fortier)

Really?

You trade for Johnson and a 1st, and trade away Johnson and that same 1st, but you change the rest of the package from;

Cernak, Erik [RFA Rights]
Palat, Ondrej

to

Olofsson, Gustav
Fairbrother, Gianni [Reserve List]
Ikonen, Joni [Reserve List]

A depth D that will never be more than a 6/7
A prospect D that is going back to the WHL for his age 20 season, which is not a good prospect
And a guy who has played 13 games in two plus seasons, (he's hurt again)

Joni Ikonen - "This makes it three seasons in a row that Ikonen has suffered a major injury"
https://awinninghabit.com/2020/10/03/montreal-canadiens-joni-ikonen-injured/

Sure you gave up 23 year old AHLer Juulsen, the guy who has played 37 games the last two seasons. He might be a former late 1st round pick, 2015 1/26, but his stock has steadily gone down down down, and swapped in 24 year old AHLer Carcone.
