Haula and Hamonic

Created by: TrueNorth
Initial Creation Date: Dec 3, 2020

Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Team Explanation
Two players that would be a good fit for the Jets and are still without contracts are Haula and Hamonic. Haula is a significant improvement off of Perreault and would anchor a dynamic third line with Rosy and Harkins. He would also bring a veteran Finnish presence to the team which will hopefully assist in the development of Laine, Heinola, Vesalainen, Niku and Luoto.
Hamonic wants to be near his family and I think would be willing to sunset out his career on short term contracts with the Jets. Buys time for Niku to round out his game.

Yeah those would be pretty good additions. The only glitch I see in your plan is buying out Perreault. Mr Chipman has a long history of not doing buy outs. The Jets are a small market team and if my memory is correct the only player in Jets 2.0 to be bought out was Mark Stuart. Compare that to a team like Philly. /Rangers. Etc....

Then it will cost them a pick to save $1.5m. Or an Armia type player.

It's too late to do a buyout so if you want this to be realistic you'll have to change that, would like to see Haula and Hamonic added though.

You're right no buyouts, but I also think you can fit both those guys in with the Little money (5.2). Hamonic, IMO, could be had for 2 mill and Haula for 3. Of course this is just my opinion, but I think if more money was out there they would be signed already. For both players, the one year deals are kind of "show me" contracts for next offseason. In Winnipeg they get an opportunity to play and contend (playoffs and who knows)

I don't think veterans Hamonic and Haula are on "show me contracts". Fact is there are few teams with cap and ever fewer than can/would offer multiple contracts. Those two contracts proposed might be about the best offers they receive.
Gee, if Taylor Hall, had to sign a one year contract at 8m.
