Just a thought

Created by: Spicoli
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 4, 2020
Published: Dec. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know that there is a strong chance that nobody would waive their NTC's to go to Detroit, but for this exercise lets say that Detroit and Tampa get lucky and the players decide to waive.

Please let me know if trade values need to be adjusted and what would need to be added/subtracted.

Cernak's signing is a bridge deal at lower AAV to get past flat cap seasons, which is likely to last at least for next year also, and then he tries to maximize contract value when cap/revenues rebound.

No thanks, Staal is a top5 worst D in the league. Move Nemeth instead, you'll get more for him (and he isn't bad).

Very good point, and I think Detroit would be willing to move either of them at the TDL.

NSH isn't in a position to give 1st rounders to 30+ year old's with long-term contracts, even with that retention.

I made the edit. Does that look better?

Very easily true, but why I said that it could be to anyone that wants to add secondary scoring.

TDL deals are difficult to predict because you never know which teams makes a real run at it and which players step up/fade away.

ABB is too much for Killorn. If ABB will be traded, it will most likely be in a Johnson deal.

avs do not have the cap space for that move, also they have no use or room for bottom 6 healthy scratch dead weight in Filppula

Cernak is will sign more than that

I agree Staal was pissed when he found out he was traded to Detroit and after talking to Yzerman he was good. I assume he said something like you will be traded at the TDL for sure. The trade filled a need at that time and Yzerman still refuses to call it a cap dump but the 2nd rd pick is why the trade was made. So I can see Staal being traded at the TDL for next to nothing.

Filppula loved his time in Detroit and being an ex teammate of Yzerman's, It would surprise me if he doesn't get traded and retires at the end of the season.

Would Avs be interested in a Cernak for Graves type swap, even if there have to be sweeteners given?
