Description
Realistically, I can see all these guys in the line-up on opening night. Which begs the question, what is their plan? Trading Saad for Zadorov is not a rebuild move. Letting Crawford go is a rebuild move. What angle are the Blackhawks taking?

I think Dach is better off as 2C, but that leaves a gaping hole at 2RW. I don't know, something doesn't add up. There's multiple missing pieces on this team but a surplus of players.

Emotionally, I dont wanna trade Strome, but I think from a logistics point of view, it just makes sense. Then I would probably have Dach as 2c and Kurashev/Barratt/Wallmark as a 3c. I think Nylander still gets a shot in the top 6. He just was never going to have a good time against the more physical Golden Knights as a rookie and aside from that series, he had a fine rookie season. I think a 3rd line of Suter-Kurashev-Shaw would be the best case scenario, assuming he comes back. If not, I think Wallmark would fit there well. Idk. There are options. Guess we will figure it out.

I would put the acquisition of Zadorov as “asset management”. Currently an restricted free agent after the season, the Hawks have a cap friendly salary here. The other side would be losing Saad to free agency. There will be that camp who would wanted Bowman to move Saad at the trading deadline for ideally better/more assets. But with all that is happening with this season, will be there the market expected for a player like Saad?

Yes, the thinking would be Saad would go as a rental, but I think it would be a stretch to see his value command a 1st. Acquiring Zadorov, the Hawks get an NHL ready player now, and I would consider part of the “rebuild” is a mindset for the club to play with a more physical edge.

I feel from my gut, the Hawks will sign Strome as insurance if Dach struggles in his 2nd season. I say that with the expectation that Strome will not recieve the amount or term, I think he believes he is worth. He has no leverage. Everything is against him. Dach’s rise, the pandemic, last season’s stats. Strome should take a one year deal and play like a house on fire. Make it tough on the brass for the next contract.

No Hagel? He's had a nice run in the Swiss League (low bar, yes) but apparently he's shown a lot of progress. Could definitely see him getting another look out of camp

Honestly I think the best move to fix the 2nd RW is trade Strome to Vegas in exchange for Tuch, Vegas needs a 2nd line center and to clear cap, and Strome will probably sign around 2.2-2.5 million. I also think then Dach can be the established 2nd line center.
This would also be a good top 6

I think there better off keeping Strome for at least this season , if for nothing else just to boost his trade value . Granlund is still available and is a really good rw . Sign to a one year deal see how it goes , dump him at the trade deadline if it does not work out .
