If Toronto is trading Nylander, it wouldn't be for another offensive defenseman who can't play defense. I think the Leafs learned their lesson from Tyson Barrie.

Yeah for sure, trying to see what they'd look for in this forum.

No, I actually think that is good value for Nylander. Buchnevich, Deagello and a 1st and a 2nd. I’m not too familiar with the prospect but if he’s atleast a “B”, “B+” prospect, then that’s good value for Nylander IMO.

Just eyeballing things. What’s the cap hit for DeAngelo and Buchnevich - best if you can say what they’ll be asking for with a new deal if they’re 1 year away from expiring. I think it’ll be north of the cap hit Nylander has, so for that reason alone Toronto can’t make the deal.

Fox+ I guess but then again.. Fox would likely not sign in Toronto so.. if you have like 5th overall pick next year, that would be worth it.

    Props for getting proper value.

I just can't see Leafs being interested in DeAngelo.

Like many have said, leafs don’t really need deangelo. I bet they would be interested in lundkvist. Maybe drop the first and deangelo and add him? Idk if that’s fair.

That's who I'd be interested in. Some fans have him as an untouchable though.

He's not untouchable. But if he's in this deal, it'll lighten up the bulk of the trade.

I'd do that. Need a 3rd team to take DeAngelo salary tho.

Thanks, huge fan of Willy! totally understand for sure on DeAngelo. Nils could suffice.

What do the Leafs gain with a top 5 pick in a weak-ish draft? trading Nylander would stunt the team a large margin and a player who's a year away can't help too much. Just curious there.

Fox is a dead asset anywhere else. Maybe Nils Lundkvist could work?

Value isn't an issue, just don't see the Leafs wanting (or willing) to take DeAngelo.

True. Buch likely around 4M-4.5M and DeAngelo anywhere from 5M-7M depending on how many points he continues to put up.

Could sub him for Nils Lundkvist or Braden Schneider to make it more palatable

hmm, is he NHL ready? I'd want the team to get better immediately, not a few years down the road. Buchnevich would add some size to the top 6 though, and maintain at least some of the offence

I maintain that if I'm moving nylander I'd want fox lol

that's prob why nylander won't get traded bc people don't wanna give up stuff like that for a winger

That would certainly be more enticing, imo. The only thing about that would be the Leafs get worse in the short term which doesn't make sense for them.

I'd be one to say he definitely is, throw him with Sandin like in the 2020 WJC and watch Sandin-Lundkvist be the best young offensive pair in the NHL.
