Actually over the past few years the problems have been poor defensive depth, weak production from the bottom 6 in the playoffs, and unstable goaltending in the playoffs / from backup goalies. Not our stud young winger on a solid contract.

Not a troll post as I said before. He stands around way too often, his entry to the offensive zone is at the blueline, and tries to avoid checks to not mess up his luscious hair. The kid is big, but I wish he utilized his body more often.

Bro you can defend yourself all you want, at the end of the day the community will hate on your a** just for trading Nylander. Happens to me all the time. I like Bjorkstrand but I think some more pieces could make this trade work. I wouldnt do one for one if that was your initial approach which I'm assuming was probably not

I love how harshly critiquing on one player defines yourself as "not a Leafs fan". I love Nylander, but he is not a playoff performer. He is a player to get you to the top of the standings, but the playoffs is another animal.

The point I've been trying to get across my entire time on this site. The players that the leaf's need are what I like to call "gamers". Someone who will fight to the bit to get his team a W, and produces. Willy will only give you this in the regular season, not the playoffs. I get that the game is changing, with more skillful players coming to the league, but If you dont want those "other" skillful players that are NOT on your team, scoring on you.. you need players that will handle that problem

You can say he produces, but we need more tenacious players such as a Tkachuk.

There were 2 games in the finals with more than 100 hits in it. Can you see a situation where the leafs take on more than 50 hits in a game, throw back 10 and still win the game?

You do know that Matt Martin out scored the combined Leafs top 6 forwards last summer in the playoffs.

They play as playoff performer's. They both will scratch and claw to make sure they get what they want. Does Nylander have the balls to fight Doughty? No. Regardless of who he fights, the Tkachuk brothers will stand up for their teammates while Nylander fixes his hair. The Leafs will constantly get destroyed in the playoffs if they don't find players who have heart. A declining Simmonds is not the answer. I'm going back to my point where the Habs are more suited for playoffs than the Leafs. They have a stanley cup champion in Toffoli, Edmundson, and Alllen, along with a lesser Tom Wilson in Josh Anderson.

In general, more hits equals more opportunities to grab the puck and let the skilled players do their thing. Remember when Abdelkader hit Sandin. Who protected him?

Yes, because it's a bull**** stat that is literally never counted realistically and the leafs could easily do that with a trigger happy stat counter

You don't need to "find" those players, you need a coach to teach the players that style. Look at the Blues when the won the Cup, lousy until they added Berube. Instant Cup result, not from a trade, but a coaching change.

Nylander would be too busy skating away laughing at doughty because doughty is washed and not worth it.
You can keep spouting cliche all you want but it doesnt make any point youre trying to make.

Idk about you, but im not expecting Willy, Matthews, Marner, Rielly and Tavares ALONE to deliver a stanley cup. There needs to be a balance of toughness, want, depth and skill to have a championship team. Look at Tampa as an example. Point, Stamkos, Hedman and Kurcherov are your "skillfull" guys.. your superstars. Your added depth is Cirelli, Palat, Gourde and Sergachev, these guys are the support to your foundation (your core players). Then we see those players who are full of want and desire.. those who are not afraid to get there nose dirty and crash bodies. These players are what HELPS your core players do what they do best. Coleman, Goodrow, Bogosian, McDounagh, Maroon, Paquette and Cernack... these guys want to run you over on the ice...

Now, name me at least 5 players on the leaf's that play with the same amount of passion and determination like the players I just listed.. (Coleman, Goodrow etc..)(They dont have to be identical playing styles, but similar qualities)
