none of the opposing teams would accept except for the marner trade and on that the leafs reject.

Honestly, that Marner trade is very interesting. Think it needs some tweaks to make it better for both teams, but the idea isn't crazy in my opinion..

That’s hefty for Arizona to pay for Matthews.... I don’t see them doing that. They are giving their futures. Soderstrom their soon to be top pairing right handed defence man, Hayton their 5OA in 2018, that they have big hopes for, their first when they don’t have one this coming up draft, and Keller, their first line winger.

true, but Matthews is a generational goal scorer, those don't come around often. He's gonna be a top 5 centre in the league for many many years to come, whereas Hayton's potential is unknown so far

None of this was fun. Trade away 4 of Toronto's 5 best players and not a single player coming back is even close to as good as any of them.
This is a fun idea for all the other teams involved.. not the Leafs tho.

I'd honestly do the Holl trade right now. Given the competition for the 4,5,6 D spots.

Generational goal scorer? I beg to differ. There is Ovechkin, Draisaitl etc.. there’s plenty that can come. He’s not anywhere close to generational in my opinion.

draisaitl lmao, the guy who didn't crack 30 goals till he was 23?

matthews has missed more games and consistently had less ice time than all these guys and he's STILL second in goals scored since joining the league.

he's 23, was 22 all last year lol, you look at draisaitl, pasta, mackinnon, eichel etc. they all had breakouts in their 5th year as they hit their prime. Matthews is gonna hit an entire other level in the coming years, I don't think it's controversial to say he could be a generational goal scorer, up there with ovi. He's already basically a top 3 goalscorer in the nhl, and he's a centre which is doubly impressive

Now I think I speak for everyone when I say this... nobody cares about your horrible charts!! Again Matthews isn’t generational, and you know some people take longer to get good, and mature. Draisaitl is better. Deal with it.

nobody cares about my horrible charts that show matthews is the best goal scorer in the NHL, ok

don't say draisaitl's a better goalscorer then complain when I come in and prove you wrong lol

draisaitl had 50 in 82 last year, playing 22 minutes a night, matthews had 37 in 68 games, playing 18 minutes a night.

this year, playing 2 1/2 minutes less a night, matthews had 4 more goals in the same amount of games played

It really doesn’t. It’s called watch the games instead of staring at charts all day. Matthews isn’t honestly. There are better. He hasn’t even hit 50... at least I can say Draisaitl has haha!

you say i stare at charts all day when I've watched every leaf game for the last 5 years, you sound silly lol

I'm citing my claims. matthews is a better goal scorer - my evidence? nobody has scored more goals than him other than ovi since he joined the NHL

matthews has scored and continues to score more than draisaitl.

Good for you. You want a medal??? It doesn’t matter how many charts you look at, or how many games you’ve watched of Toronto, and only stare at Matthews! You know I’ve watched plenty more players for other teams, and I know for a FACT that Matthews isn’t the best goalie scorer.

who's better? are you ever gonna give some evidence, or those accursed charts you so despise, or are you just gonna say words without anything to back it up?

that's crazy, since entering the league matthews has more goals/60 than both of them

more goals in total than both of them at 5v5, and trails only ovi by about 20 goals all situations over those 4 years, but he also played 31 less games over the time span, playing about 1:30 less per game than ovi

so uhh, no.

Now that’s my opinion. Accept it or not I don’t care. Draisaitl is better player, and Matthews isn’t generational goal scorer.
