massive over valuation of Hughes at this point. No way WPG does that.

Bruins don't need Palmieri with Pastrnak, Kase and Smith on the RW.

If WPG added a 2021 1st, NJD still wouldn’t make the trade.

Looks roughly okay i guess with Laine having a lot of issues (defense, corsi, etc.) Willbur being underrated and Hughes having so much upside ultimately

Yes, the Devils don't need Laine after drafting Holtz. They both have a similar playing style. If we were to trade for Laine, it would not cost Hughes

tell me, how many years till NJ starts calling Hughes a bust?
God knows they hyped his name up as the next great thing. But stat wise his 1st year has been one of the worse recently.
Even Yakupov had a better 1st year than he did. Think about that. Before telling me a 40 goal scorer ++++++ isn't an over payment.

Hughes needs get stronger - the counting stats weren’t there in part because he wasn’t playing with good players. He was one of the best transition players in the league last season. Still on track to be a 1C.

The only positive about laines game is his shot. He’s pretty much a powerplay specialist. He doesn’t drive play offensively and he’s awful defensively. At even strength the jets always get outshot when Laine is on the ice.

denial is more than a river.
He's been one of the worst 1st round picks in the last 20 years. And is on track to be a bust.

5v5 play
Hughes 34.9% face offs. 45.8% corsi GF 18 GA 40 Ozone starts 59.2%

If by transition you mean Starting in your own zone, and watching the puck go the other way while giving up goals over 2-1 than yeah, I guess he's one of the best at that.

I think 99.9% of NHL fans think that Seth jones is an elite defensemen. When 99.9% of people think you’re wrong, maybe you’re wrong.

Most people think he’s an average #2 Dman , especially the fans that actually watch the games

We talking about the same Seth jones?

Over the last four years he’s averaged 10th in Norris voting. Sheesh.

Hughes was pretty bad his rookie season but I honestly can't blame him. Hynes put him on the third line with horrible linemates and he was struggling. Obviously, Hughes's rookie season was disappointing for a first overall pick. However, Joe Thornton had an even worse rookie and he bounced back. Hughes has improved significantly during the offseason (weight/muscles) and next year could be big for him if he plays with good linemates. Hughes was bad his rookie year but it is way too early to label him a bust.
