Created by: RussianRangers9
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 9, 2020
Published: Dec. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
give kakko and laf a year of development, kandre gets used to pro hockey and automatically can get a jump into the top 4 (hes nhl ready 2020-21 season but rangers keep him in the ahl to develop), kravtsov comes over after developing in russia. expect lindgren, fox, and trouba so improve and deangelo to stay an offensive power hosue. igor keeps getting better and so does chytil. Can they contend for a cup come the 2022 playoffs?

Has Shesterkin played/done well enough to warrant $6M? Honest question, really don't know. Pinch some pennies where you can, Laf/Kakko/Fox's next contract will be here before you know it.

the talent is there but I worry about the physicality of the team with so many skill guys. especially if kreider gets moved, the team needs more physical forwards, since just having lemieux on your fourth line probably won't cut it. I don't want them turning into the maple leafs

They certainly have a high ceiling, but I don't trust their depth up the middle, or the left side of their D. Certainly some interesting prospects there, but relying on all three of them to be solid is a dangerous game to play.

They're in pretty great shape going into the expansion draft though.

shesterkin has warranted a huge contract due to his history of success and dominance. he is 24 almost 25 he needs to be locked up long term so we dont have a vasylevsky situation.

kreider woudlnt get moved until lafs contract year minimum. he gives a big body and gauthier as well along with lemeuix and lindgren. kandre might becuase hes 6'5 and young

Gauthier is a good one as well, I overlooked him. But I wouldn't be so sure about Kreider staying. I think Gorton's plans may have changed if he knew he was getting Lafreniere at the draft when he resigned Kreider in February. It's gonna be tough on LW to manage Kreider, Panarin, and Lafreniere. Even if one of them switches to their off side, you have Buch, Kakko, and potentially Kravtsov in the mix. I love all the players on the team, but logistically it seems hard to keep them all, especially with larger contracts looming for Shesterkin, Fox, Zibanejad, Kakko and Lafreniere.

they drafted physical and can address that moving fwd. talent hardest thing to find. but with 3 d lines possible having: kandre, trouba, lindgren and schneider...thats some size and grit right there. (thats also why u keep kreider imo and lemieux is also a nice pc moving fwd. gauthier is also a strong strong dude and can possibly play with more edge as he becomes more comfortable.

All good points. I just worry about having a soft top 6 potentially without Kreider. I miss the glory days of Rick Nash. I love Lemieux and Gauthier has potential. Even Buch has shown some grit lately.

The Rangers like most teams, are depending on some of there ELCs and others playing beyond their contracts to make a difference. I like the Rangers and their good depth going in the future, but not sure if they are "that" good to be true Cup contenders for a few years.
