Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't this lose money for Vegas?

Vegas already said they won't retain salary on MAF. Hence why he wasn't traded already

So you really think Vegas is going retain $3.5M for 2 years and take on $1.9M this year?

Did it wrong first time. I fixed it. They now are cap compliant. And yes I think they rather do this than trade one of their top players. Pens still do this without the 1st.

Fleury ($3.5 ret), 1st for McCann, Sceviour, DeSmith, 5th

Not counting Vegas not wanting to retain... Reality is that Fleury at $3.5Mx2 is not a positive. Fleury @3.5Mx2 is at best FC's for return, but probably Vegas needs to give up a bit even at 50%.

Counter: Fleury ($3.5 ret), 4th for Sceviour, DeSmith

Adds $1M+ in cap hit to the Pens, but the fans go crazy.

I'm pretty sure that Jankowski and ZAR would be switched in the lines

there is no way they are trading their only 3rd line player with any NHL experience.

VGK won't retain salary. a third team would have to do it.
VGK we're supposedly offering picks to move MAF. the pens won't have to give up McCann to get him unless they are getting more in the deal....

My counter of Fleury ($3.5 ret), 4th for Sceviour, DeSmith still works, Vegas just needs to launder him through someone else.

Maybe. Jankowski played in college with Tanev. Doesn`t really matter, Sullivan will have to see what works best.

Do u hate McCann?? Lol. McCann is a potential 20 goal scorer man. Scored 19 in 18-19 and 14 last year in a shortened season and a big slump at the end of the seaon and was playing C where he doesn’t belong. And is only 24 years old. And on a very good deal for a 20 goal scorer.

I have.
ZAR is not a 3rd liner. You moved Rust out of his top 6 role to play Kovalchuk. Ugh... Lets leave rusty where he is.
Then you replaced McCann with Granlund, who's older, on a one year deal, and probably bolts at the end of the season if he can find more money. Se we gave up our only 3rd line player on the roster for basically nothing. McCann is only 24, and wrapped up, and he keeps getting better.

Few things.

1. ZAR, if he is able to stay healthy, can be a capable 3rd line player (serving a specific role on the third line which in this case is a physical, defensive specialist to compliment "deficiencies" in Granlund`s game). The alternative is move Blueger to 3C, Rust or Kovalchuk to LW and Granlund to RW. 4th line is then ZAR, Jankowski, Tanev. Could also move Tanev to 3rd line I guess too but I prefer to keep him down the lineup. ZAR has more scoring prowess than Tanev.

2, Kovalchuk is not a top line player anymore but you still have to play him in an offensive role. He doesn`t fit on the 3rd or 4th line. Also Malkin and Kovalchuk are buddies, Kovalchuk does not sign unless he plays on Malkins line and gets PP time, which by the way he would be an awesome fit on the right half wall on PP. Rust is a great player but I still prefer him on third line. His game is more suited for that role and I think his value to the team is greater there.

3. Yes I would love to replace McCann with Granlund. Far superior player with much greater ceiling. Who cares if he leaves after the season. You need to sign Marino and others. Poulin will be ready by then and he can fill that void left by Granlund. This team is all in this year and next. They can find a replacement for McCann and Granlund via trade, FA or in system very easily next year. McCann is a good player. He is a middle 6 forward. Good shot. Fiesty but not very physical. There are plenty of players of his caliber in this league. He is expendable. In this situation he is expendable because the team is significantly upgraded due to these moves.

No, McCann is fine. He is an average middle 6 forward. Doesn`t really bring any gamebreaking elements. He is expendable because there are plenty of forwards in the league like him. His contract is fine. It isn`t a "steal" but it also isn`t dragging the team down. I think moving him in this deal makes the team better. I don`t care if he is 20, 24, 28 or 37. This team is all in the next two years. Anything else does not matter.

I think u are mistaken.lol. Back to back 35 point seasons. 19 goals and 35 points in 18-19. And 14 goals and 35 last in a shortened season and had a big slump at the end of the year. And he was playing out of position. He was playing Center and He’s a natural winger. A scorer. He shouldn’t be a Center, having to worry about carrying a line and setting up his line mates. He should do what he does best. And just snipe, put the puck in the net. And he’s a good two-way player too.

Played in the NHL since he was 19 years old. Won a roster spot at 19 and never looked back. I bet every team wishes their 22nd overall pick takes a roster spot at 19 years old!!

And he’s been moved around everywhere. Where ever the Pens are weak. From 3C, to top 6 LW, to 3rd line LW, to 2C when Sid or Geno miss time. Young players (actually most athletes) need consistency and a routine. Usually only veterans are good at getting moved around like that. A utility type player.

But he still played well wherever we were weak and needed him. JR and Sully both said, he’s sticking on the LW this year where he belongs(let’s see if they stick to it). And he’s gonna get that consistency night to night that young players need. If there are 65 games or more, and he doesn’t get moved around a bunch, I’d bet my house he scores 20 plus goals. Again, he’s only 24 years old. Whether u think so or not, that’s a big deal, to have 5 years experience and play-off experience at just 24 years old. And there will still be potential there, if he has a 20 plus goal season this year. Like I said, he had 19 goals in 18-19 and 35 points. And Back to back 35 point seasons. And watch him play, he always stands out. Great shot, good skater, fast, good defense too.
