My 3C pick

Created by: PGHBOB69
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 9, 2020
Published: Dec. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Besides Cirelli or if we could afford J.Staal again or someone crazy that would hate playing 3C minutes or we couldn’t afford.

Dallas gets their LHD that is ready to play with Heiskanen. I know they have Harley but PO-Joseph is definitely farther along. And Dallas moves Ty Dellandrea or J.Dickinson to 3C.

I don’t think so. It’s what we paid for Zucker. A top 100 prospect( although C.Addison is a more sought after defender being RH and a bit more highly rated). A top 100 prospect and a 1st round pick. Of course Zucker > Faska. But they are different players too. I mean we paid a 1st round pick and Hallander( a “C+, “B-“ prospect) for Kappy too. And it was a known, 15th overall pick. Pretty high.

Faska is a great 2-way Center. Perfect for our 3C. Signed long term to a reasonable deal. That’s very valuable. Still young!! Still potential there!! That’s valuable. 1st round pedigree. valuable(whether u think so or not, it is). Chips in on offense enough. Perfect IMO. And I agree u can never have enough D, and I love PO-Joseph. I just don’t see where he fits now with Matheson.

Faksa just hasn’t really proven himself for me to feel comfortable giving up a 1st. Giving up a 1st for Zucker and Kapanen is fine cause they’re top 6 guys. JR wants Jankowski at 3C. Hate how no one is giving him a chance

Yep, I agree. It’s Janko position to lose right now. And I think he can can turn it around. We’re only his 2nd team. 1st round pedigree too. 2 descent seasons his 1st two years. Yes, last year was bad but Calgary was a sh*t show last year. Every players stats went way down. It’s easy to write off last year for him. And a change of scenery should do him well.

But Faksa is definitely proven 3C. Has gotten Selke votes 3 years Out of 5 he’s been n the NHL. Chips in scoring enough. I disagree there.

Gotta agree. A 1st and one of PIT's only decent prospects is way too much to pay for a 3C right now.

Just wanted to point out this isn't accurate. Faksa finished 7th in Selke voting in 17-18, and received a single 4th place vote the next year, but that's been it.

Was 7th in voting in 17-18.
Had a vote in 18-19.

Sorry I thought he had votes last year too. I thought the last 3 years. 2 out of the last 3 years. Sorry, 2 years out of 5. Any Selke votes is good bud. All 3 of Tanev/Blueger/ZAR had votes last year. I don’t care if it was just one vote. It’s more than none. And is still proof u are one of the best two-way forwards that year. Do u want to look at his analytics as proof?? I bet they are great. To get any Selke’s votes, they have to be!!

Zucker >>>> Faska, and the Pens overpaid for Zucker. Giving either Joseph OR the 1st is overpay for Faska. Faska would be an okay 3C, but nothing special.

To try to stick in the area of your trade, maybe Faska, 3rd for 1st. Faska for 2nd, Sceviour.

Ya, I disagree man. Faksa is a perfect 3C for us. And is a top two-way Center in the NHL. And chips in with scoring enough for a 3C. And is still young. And hIs long-term, reasonable contract, is really valuable too.

And I don’t think we overpaid for Zucker. He’s 29 years old, a top 6 winger. Scored 20 plus goals 5 out of his 1st 6 full seasons. He’s tough too! Along with fast. At 5’11, 195 pounds, he’s not big but uses his size and weight when he needs to. And isn’t afraid too. He had 12 points in 15 games so far with us. We won’t know if it’s an over-payuntil we see what C.Addisson does and what number the 1st round pick is.

And we need to a full season of Zucker on Geno’s line. People think Kappy was an overpay too. Go read the articles and what some TSN YouTube videos say. 2 teams besides us were offering 1st round picks too( I know one team was NJD and they were offering their 18 or 19th pick, I think they had 2 picks in the 1st round. It wasn’t their early pick but the pick in the teens. And I forget the other team that was offering a 1st too). But 2 years ago, Dubas was gonna draft Hallander but drafted S.Druzi instead that year. So he was familiar and still followed Hallander. We have 10 players in our system that play similar to him and have the same style. He was expendable. And the Pens wanted to make sure they got Kappy. So 3 GMs including jR thought Kappy’s value was atleast a 1st round pick. And I’m excited to see Kappy on a line with Guentzel/SiD/Kappy. And excited to see the Geno line with Zucker/Geno/Rust. But u can’t say the Zucker or Kappy trades were an overpay. Atleast the Kappy trade u know it was a15th overall pick( a pretty high pick)and who was available at that time. Zucker trade we don’t even know the 1st round picks draft #.

And I would be happy if the Pwns traded a 1st for Faksa. And that’s all he cost. I’m a big PO-Joseph fan. I think he’s gonna be really good. I just don’t see where he fits now with Matheson. Even if he out-plays Matheson. U can’t sit that contract in the press box..lol. But I would be ecstatic if the Pens got Raksa for just a 1stcround pick!!

As a Stars fan, trust me when I say that you overpaid. Faksa is a solid 3C, don't get me wrong. He does a great job at shutting down opposing top lines & he's not a liability in the offensive zone either. That's just a high price to pay for a 3C who is going to be semi-reliant on his linemates as well. I would take this deal in a heartbeat though

Faksa + 3rd for a 1st is pretty accurate, but it would have to be NEXT offseason. Don't see Dallas moving Faksa for a 1st Round Pick that they won't have until 2022. Dallas has no need for a guy like Sceviour. If they were to trade Faksa for a 2nd + additional piece, it would probably be for a prospect close to NHL ready that's not named Poulin, Legare, or Joseph. Off the top of my head, it'd probably be something like this:

Pittsburgh Penguins
Radek Faksa

Dallas Stars
2021 2nd Round Pick
Kasper Bjorkqvist

Add smaller pieces to flush out the deal however you'd like, but this would very likely be the starting point for any trade involving Faksa with a 2nd Round pick going to Dallas.
