Menell won't even remotely meet exposure requirements for the Wild.
- under contract in 2021-22, AND
- played in 40 or more NHL games last season, OR
- played in 70 or more NHL games in the last two seasons
You have to expose at least 1 player that meets those requirements, but Seattle could chose to draft someone that doesn't, like Mennell. He is eligible to be selected. I'm not sure that I'd go that way myself as the Wild will either expose Dumba, who I would pick instead or protect 8 skaters and then I'd take Greenway or Erikson Ek, whichever they didn't protect.

They'll play Rask 27 games to meet requirements and then protect Parise, Zucc, Fiala, Erickson Ek, Suter, Brodin, Spurgeon and Dumba. They'll have Rask, Greenway, Soucy, and Talbot to meet exposure requirements.
Some interesting picks here, but my team would look substantially different.
Dermot, Jones and Bean/Fleury make sense. I wouldn't take Ghost and instead would take a forward from the Flyers. I'd take a Dman from the Blues. I'd take Janne Kuakkannen from Jersey instead of Subban. I'd also take a forward from the Sens instead of the goalie. Murphy instead of Highmore. Honka instead of Caamano. I'd probably grab Hirose from Detroit. etc.
Anyhow, always interesting to see what other people are thinking. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, but Seattle can still pick Mennell if they wanted to. Like I said, I'd go Greenway myself but I've stockpiled D in my draft from other places so it's really a position of strength.
It just seems like you think they can only pick from the players that meet the exposure requirements and I'm just trying to tell you that isn't the case. Teams have to meet those requirements to make sure they don't have a pile of junk to choose from, but there are separate requirements to be excluded from being selected as well (1st or 2nd year pros) and since Mennell is going into his 4th pro season this year, Seattle could take him, even if he doesn't meet the Wild's exposure requirements.

No, they can't. If they don't meet exposure requirements, teams don't have to protect them because they aren't' eligible to be selected. From the NHL's website:
"* All first- and second-year NHL players, and all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection (and will not be counted toward protection limits."
Menell wouldn't have 2 NHL seasons, so he's exempt.

If you look at CapFriendly's Draft simulator, it appears he is not on the exempt list.
While Kempny is definitely going to be unprotected. I can't see Seattle taking him after he tore his achilles this offseason. The only reason I can see him being taken is if the caps make a trade with Seattle and give them some picks to ensure Kempny is taken. Other than that. Keep an eye on Oshie, Schultz, Orlov, and Sprong or Hathaway. In my opinion one of these 5 players are gonna be the favorites to be taken.
p.k I don't think would be Seattle. correct me if I'm wrong
I dont think you're wrong, but Seattle might take him for his cap hit and potential of bouncing back. He'll be for one year...he's an entertaining player and if he plays well they can ship him off at the deadline or resign him. I think a change of scenery and being a sort of face of the franchise would be good motivation for PK.
