Pacioretty is a big contract too. my thinking is VGK got a 3rd for Nate Schmidt and he's a pretty good D-man. Pacioretty prob brings back barely anything at all then or has to give up something more.....if PIT gives up say McCann then VGK would balance it out...

I know this is totally crazy and will (probably) never happen but is the value fair or close??? would paciortetty be a good fit with this team?

I don’t like that explanation. People saying he only got a 3rd for Nate Schmidt, and now valuing everyone that low. Like seriously, they traded Schmidt for that low because they had to trade someone before the next day, or before they could announce it or something, and if they didn’t trade someone, they wouldn’t get Pietrangelo. They would’ve gotten more if Pietrangelo wasn’t on the line. So you can’t value trades that way, because that’s ridiculous!

No. Pacioretty is good, but not close to good enough to add $14M in cap. Even with the 1st, etc.

New Jersey isn’t taking $17.5 million on in dead cap for a late 1st.

Teams would be lining up for Pacioretty at 3.5 mil if they did...

Those teams would have to add a huge sweetener if they want him for that cheap

All Pittsburgh added were two guys even the GM didn't know were in his system. I'm saying teams would pay a huge sweetener...

Vegas technically only clears $10 ish mil (which is fine), but they get worse, and lose a bunch of picks in the process.

Trading a guy who just put up 66 points in 71 games (The first time he's been healthy in 3 years) for essentially nothing is a bad, bad move. They need to clear around $2 mil, and have a number of different way they can go about it.

I think just like the Article said, I don’t understand the trade. We are fine at LW. We need RW and Right -handed shots.

We found out last year McCann is a better winger than Center. He’s a better goal scorer and scorers more and plays better on Offense when he doesn’t have to worry about play-making and setting up his lines mates and carrying a line. He can just concentrate on what he is good at!! And just snipe!! Put puck in the net!! And he’s a good two-way player too.

And every article saying Poulin looks great. And is ready. That he aIs 6’3, 210 pounds now. Grew from being drafted at 6’1, 205. And Poulin’s strong side is LW too.

And both ZAR and Tanev are natural LW too. They just switched around between LW and RW last year on the 4th line. It’s why they both have RW eligibility on this site. But both played mostly LW their whole careers.

I don’t know where Pacioretty fits?? And too expensive. We would have to move Letang to make it work well, IMO.

And trading DeSmith and picking up Fluery is a mistake. Our goaltending only taking up a small part of our cap is a huge advantage. And DeSmith is a capable NHL back-up. He’s proven if!! And his numbers do too!! And if Jarry plays bad, then we are F-ed anyways. Cause they are committed to letting him play. And I wouldn’t want to give up McCann. He’s only 24 years old and back to back 35 point seasons. He’s gonna break -out this year!!
