If he could pull of that VGK trade, it could be a smart move. 5mil for 2 years, and you get a decent prospect and first for a dead contract and bust.

Montreal accepts, Byron is a good PK player and a good 3rd liner but there isn't much space for him on our roster and we need cap space

Minnesota declines. We need centers more than defenders, and I think Khovanov is a better prospect

Fair enough. I saw it on a Wild AGM so I figured they wanted Larsson

I don't know if Backes would waive for Ottawa.

Agreed. At this point, Khovanov has higher upside. Also makes very little sense for either team at this point. Like you said, Wild need C's, whereas the Ducks prospect depth at C and LD is lengthy.

its a very bad trade for MTL but under the cap circumstances, this would help, so MTL may be forced to accept. I say may, because hopefully as season progresses, better deals come forward.

Ottawa isn't taking on $3MM in owed salary for deadweight without any attendance money coming in, and certainly not for a 4th and a never gonna make it prospect.

I know Byron is good we just can't really afford him right now and Lehkonen could take his role depending on where you see him play and it lets us play Poehling and Evans

you bring up a good point about Poehling and Evans. Interesting to see their development. Their younger and cost less. It's a good problem to have. If players stay healthy, this should be a very good team.
