I feel bad for the Sabres and their fanbase. While they add great players in Hall and Staal, they get placed into one of the toughest division's. No way they can make the playoffs with Boston, Islanders, Philly, Penguins, Washington, and Rangers all competing for a playoff spot

I don't hate it from Vegas's perspective, but given the division Buffalo is going to be in this year, I don't think I'd be moving my 1st round pick. It has the potential to be this years San Jose (Or Ottawa from the year before)-type move.

I understand that concern for sure

I would rather watch my sabres try and fail to make the playoffs in a great division over no hockey at all.

avs dont have the cap space for that move.

You can take Cole in a trade, but Avs really cant take on more cap in a trade and do not want additional years on contracts, they want guys off the book next season for Makar and Landeskog extensions

For Sabres fans sakes, because you poor ba$stards have been through a lot, I hope you guys either surprise and do well, or fall out of it early and get a good haul for Hall.

if Sabres are trying to load up to be competitive this year and load up as best as they can. The only real piece that the Sabres have that IMO would be tempting to the avs is Pilut....I dont know if hes finished with the Org bc he want to the KHL, but that is the kind of asset avs would want to look at if they are moving guys off their roster right now

Honestly for me, as much as I think Hall is great (he is, don’t know why some think he’s overrated) I want the Sabres to only have him for a year. You can’t be competitive with so much tied up in wings (9M Skinner (who if he’s scoring 30 is fine, and I think he’ll rebound) , another 9 for Hall, 6/7 for Reinhart, 4/5 in Oloffson for a total of 30M in top six wingers isn’t a recipe for success imo)

While their odds aren't great. I think 8t is reasonable to expect all of those teams to take a step back this year except for the Rangers. They all have some of the oldest cores in the league and it would be a tough sell to say that any of those teams have improved their roaters from last year
