I’m surprised Suzuki made it over Rees and Poulin, but other than that this is pretty much what I expected. Really pumped both Calgary prospects made it, I’m excited to watch them play!

The first line has already been decided through the exhibition games; McMichael - Cozens - Dach, then Byfield can play 2nd line center

Ehhh, perhaps. But then again, he’s not your average 16 year old, so honestly, yea, I’m disappointed. It’s not a mark against him by any means, he’s gonna be the 1st OA in two years time. But it kinda pisses me off that some players made this Canada team. Dach being on the team is just a waste and a flex by Canada to stack the deck. Woulda been better for Wright than dach.

We'll see, Zary-Dach-Tomasino worked really well too, scored 3 goals 5-on-5 in one period whereas McMichael-Cozens-Dach worked better on power play. I think that they will run McMichael-Cozens-Dach-Idk-Byram PP and Zary-Dach-Tomasino line 1

Wright wasn't exactly close to making the team though. He was first cuts and I'd say Beckman and Lapierre were sizeably better than him in the first cuts group. Only guys he'd have made it over would be Tyson Foerster and Cole Schwindt

It’s just another example of how COVID is throwing things off to be fair. At least 25% of Canada’s roster wouldn’t be playing if there was NHL hockey right now. Just kinda sucks seeing players who could use the experience get it taken from them by guys who shoulda graduated at this point.

How is it a waste? The point of the WJC isn’t to develop players, that’s the job of the junior/NHL teams. Canada is just trying to win

Wait, you don’t think there’s a development component to this tournament? Genuine question. Cuz that’s basically what every team sending their players to wjc rosters are doing it for!

I mean coach Andre Tourigny has literally said that their play has made it tough for him to break them up in the future, and they have played consistently 5 on 5 during the scrimmages. SportsCenter has also labelled them "Team Canada's Super Line" during one of their world juniors preview show. I'd think they're pretty much a lock to play together. Zary - Byfield - Tomasino is most likely an insanely good 2nd line.

Yeah teams sending their players are doing it for the development, but the team itself is trying to win. Carolina would like Suzuki to play top line minutes against this competition for his development, but he’s probably gonna end up scratched, Canada isn’t concerned with his development, they’re concerned with icing the best lineup they can. So yes, the guys that play do get a step up in their development (moreso the guys who are already the top players), but they aren’t necessarily being developed by Canada.

Oh yeah. They'd lose Byram, Drysdale, Dach, Cozens, Byfield for sure and you can probably throw McMicheal and maybe Krebs in there as well.

Ok, that's a fair point. I just think they have a hard decision as both lines had similar production. He also bring the best out in Zary, who is one of the weaker players on the roster, whereas McMichael and Cozens can easily pull their own weight. Who's you 3C if you do that? Mercer? Looks like they were experimenting Krebs and Perfetti on the wing so I imagine it'd be Mercer. No way it's Suzuki.

I imagine Newhook would be the 3C. Mercer is likely gonna be on the right wing on either the 3rd or 4th line. I would like the bottom 6 to be Perfetti-Newhook-Quinn Pelletier-Krebs-Mercer or something, with that 4th line as a dedicated shutdown line.
