Similar output last year, Blueger bigger, and almost 3 million cheaper. There will have to be another fairly big piece involved going Pittsburgh's way.

I’d run different lines, but I’d definitely consider that trade. I think Mark Jankowski could replace bluegar in a shutdown 4C role, although I don’t love the idea of him as our 3C. I’d definitely be willing to do bluegar+ for Kerfoot

Jake-Sid-Kap
Zucker-Malkin-Rust
McCann-Kerfoot-Tanev
ZAR-Jano-Erod

Or if poulin makes it, slide Tanev down to forth line

Why?

Kerfoot is a smidge better offensively, same age, same meh at faceoffs, Blueger is more physical, Blueger is MUCH better defensively, Kerfoot is 5 times the cap hit. FIVE TIMES.

Blueger for Kerfoot is not a good trade for the Penguins at all. Nearly the same on the ice, maybe even a lessened due to the D side, but $2.75M more cap hit.

Kerfoot didn’t have a great year in Toronto but in Colorado he was getting over 40+ points. I know he was 2C there but still I think he’s definitely significantly better than Bluegar offensive and still solid two way. Pens bottom 6 has a lot of great defensive players like Tanev, ZAR, etc. I think they could afford to move bluegar for some offence

Personally I’d rather just sign Haula and keep bluegar but this isn’t a bad option

There is no way Kerfoot is that much better on offence than blueger. To make up for the fact that blueger is better everywhere else even if only by the slightest of margins, to make the cap difference even close to worth it for Pens. Yes Kerfoot was on a higher point pace in Colorado but the difference between 2nd line and 3rd line minutes and level of talent type (more offensive minded on 2nd line) and pp time would explain that. That deal is awful for the Pens in a regular year let alone flat cap years.

You’re clearly a lot higher on Bluegar than I am. I just think we need a 3C with more offensive talent than what we currently have.

ya I like blueger a lot as a 4th line center that fills in as 3rd line center from time to time and can agree Pens need a more offensive 3c. That is not Kerfoot he is way over paid and worse at everything else and not that much better offensively. If blueger can improve a little on face offs he will be a perfect shutdown center.

I just wish GMJR would pull trigger on signing someone like Haula or even Carl Soderberg

I doubt this works for Pittsburgh.

Blueger is about as good and will be cheaper going forward.
