If dougie tells them he doesn’t want to stay there (i 100% think he’ll stay there. Guy doesn’t have a pulse, the obscurity of Carolina is perfect for him), do they get a better offer?

The whole reason they traded him was the cost to dump MAF was pricey and they needed to be cap compliant by midnight for the AP deal. I take AP all day over Schmidt.

Well aware of why they moved him. Martinez would also be for cap reasons.

Not the same leverage as they wouldn’t hit that 10% cushion and they don’t need to sign Hoffman so they’d actually be positive cap wise if all of the other moves occurred. I don’t think he returns that but I could see him getting a second or third rounder but completely different than Schmidt’s case.

As a Pens fan, I really would not like that deal. Although Patches is sick, I love Rust and Poulin is our only future hope as Pens fans :P

Bryan Rust himself is almost worth more that Pacioretty atm at least. He just last season a ppg player and is on a very good contract and he is younger than Pacioretty. And Vegas also gets the pens best prospect and a pick. If pens are selling Rust they are selling high so they don't have to give up their best prospects and a pick.
