What is the difference between a retool and rebuild?

that winnipeg trade makes no sense to me but hey i’m all for fleecing vegas lol. also that $5M in cap space could go a long ways to improving the center depth

In a retool you send all non-core pieces to off for younger established players (ie a quick turnaround). In a rebuild u sell anything of value to build for the long term future

Tanev has a horrible contract, so it ain’t really a fleece at all lol, man’s a 3rd liner who’s still has 5 years left

while chevy definitely wouldn’t have given tanev that much, we have the cap space to do it this year when little goes on to LTIR. plus, if it gets the TLC line as potent as it was during our 2017-18 run, that trade is a fleece to me
